L.A. County is currently in orange tier, and as of Monday April 5th, more venues such as bars (outdoors), Bowling alleys, Card rooms, and offices can reopen, and capacity at theme Parks, outdoor sports, movies, restaurants, museums, zoos, aquariums, indoor gyms, and yoga stadiums can increase.

Butterfly Pavilion at NHMLA

Outdoor Butterfly Pavilion and Nature Gardens are reopening on March 11th to members, and on March 18th to general public. Advanced, timed-tickets are required for entry to the Butterfly Pavilion. Your ticket allows you entry through the North Entrance and then enjoy a stroll through the Nature Gardens on the way to the Butterfly Pavilion. Tickets are $6 per person.

Petersen Automotive Museum

Peterson Automotive Museum will reopen as of March 25, 2021 with three new exhibits, and is offering free admission to health care workers and first responders for the remainder of 2021. For general public, Tickets to the museum must now be pre-purchased at petersen.org/tickets.

Taste of Universal

Universal Studios Hollywood is reopening as of March 12, 2021 with Taste of Universal. The all-new limited-time event, The Taste of Universal, serves up a day of shopping and outdoor dining throughout the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. This event is starting on March 12, 2021 on select days. Tickets are between $44-$49 for adults, and $25 for kids.

Outside Cinemas: Family Night at the Drive In

LA's Premiere Drive In Experience, Outside Cinemas, presents Family Night at the Drive In on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Enjoy Sandlot (Rated PG) under the stars with food, music, and more. El Capitan Theatre reopens as of March 19, 2021 with limited capacity after yearlong closure. Now playing at the theatre is Raya and the Last Dragon. Then from March 29th to April 1st, Soul is available to moviegoers.

Six Flags Magic Mountain

The Thrill is Calling you to the Thrill Capital of the World! Six Flags Magic Mountain is safely reopening for California residents starting April 1, 2021. New rides at Magic Mountain are West Coast Racers, the world’s first single track quadruple launch racing coaster! Unlike traditional coasters, this first of it’s kind racing coaster features two side-by-side tracks with four individual high-speed launches. A highlight of the ride is an immersive real time “pit stop” designed and produced by world famous West Coast Customs that will provide you with a racing experience unlike any other.


LACMA has announced that they are opening their doors to the general public on April 1, 2021 with 6 new exhibits.

Sugar Rush

Sugar Rush is an immersive open-air experience over 40,000 square feet of pure Candytropolis! There will be no shortage of photo-ops as your walk will include vibrant colorful installations, one-of-a kind art displays, live performances, custom parade floats, and candy-powered interactions. Sugar Rush starts on April 2nd and will continue till May 2nd. Tickets start at $30, and must be purchased online.


Starting April 1, LEGOLAND California is reopening some of its rides. Then starting April 15, 2021, you can enjoy a full reopening of the rest of the Resort’s rides such as LEGO CHIMA Water Park, SEA LIFE Aquarium, select dining, retail, and indoor attractions.

Soar Tropical Butterflies

South Coast Botanic Garden is soaring to new heights with its upcoming butterfly experience. SOAR opens April 1, 2021 and will feature tropical butterflies in a newly built pavilion. Throughout the experience you’ll see butterflies in every stage of the life cycle. You’ll have the opportunity to watch them in their natural habitat, and, if you’re lucky, have a personal encounter with one! Tickets start at $7 for toddlers, $12 for kids, and $22 for adults.

Natural History Museum LA

Natural History Museum Los Angeles will reopen to the public on April 1, 2021. NHM will debut the gallery presentation of two exhibitions when the museum opens its doors: Rise Up L.A.: A Century of Votes for Women and Spiky, Hairy, Shiny: Insects of LA. Beginning April 8 admission to NHM will be free for Los Angeles County residents between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m.

LA Tar Pit Museum

La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park will reopen on April 8, 2021 after more than one year of closure. Tickets for members and the general public will go on sale on April 1. Beginning April 15, admission to La Brea Tar Pits will be free for Los Angeles County residents between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. on all days that the Museums are open. Timed tickets must be reserved online and will be available for reservation on a first come/first served basis.

Skirball Cultural Center

On April 6, the Skirball campus will reopen to Skirball Members for Noah’s Outdoor Explorers. Specially created for families with young children and inspired by the messages and meaning of Noah’s Ark at the Skirball, this new Member program will offer an array of meaningful experiences out in the fresh air. On May 15, they open their doors to the general public with the Southern California debut of Ai Weiwei: Trace, a compelling new exhibition by the famed contemporary artist.

Museum of Dream Space

Museum of Dream Space in Beverly Hills is open now. MODS is a new immersive, magical and unique art appreciative experience. The uniqueness of MODS is to break the limitation of physical media, extend the art by digital technology and to provide the largest freedom of visitors experiencing the arts, which realize the physical extension of the arts. Kids Club At The Grove

Every Thursday, staring March 4, 2021 from 10am-12pm, kids, parents and caregivers are invited to experience a weekly dose of fun at the Grove's Park, featuring live music, storytelling, puppet shows and so much more! Golf n Stuff Ventura

Boysenberry Festival At Knott's Berry Farm

Catch a taste of the popular springtime Boysenberry Festival, with the all-new Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry Festival. LA Zoo

LA Zoo is now open with a modified experience. All guests, including members, must now reserve timed tickets online before visiting. Your reserved time slot is your assigned arrival time until 30 minutes after that time. Once you arrive within that time frame, you are welcome to enjoy the Zoo as long as you want until close time at 5 p.m. Last entry is at 3:45 p.m.

Autry Museum of The American West

Autry Museum is looking forward to welcoming you back. Autry will reopen its doors to the members on Tuesday, March 30th, and to the general public on April 6th. Visitor hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission will be free for the general public through Sunday, April 18. Admission is always free for Autry members. Advance reservations for both members and visitors are required.

Donut Life Museum

Experience donuts in a whole new way! This donut experience captures moments in life through the creative world of donuts. Each vibrant room in the exhibit will bring inspiration and creativity to all guests. This is a unique and creative space where you can have fun, immerse yourself and take beautiful photos that will also spark your sweet tooth. Tickets start at $15 for kids, and $22 for adults.

Cayton Children's Museum

Starting March 17th, Cayton Museum reopens its creative art program. Each Wednesday and Saturday, at 10:00 am and 11:00 am, you are invited to attend a free outdoor creative arts program. The program is geared for children ages 3-7. Pr-registration is required.

Go Kart World

Go Kart World is reopening on January 30th at 10:00 am. They have 6 tracks for Go Karts, catering to all different Go Karting ages and skill levels. The Go Karts and varied Go Kart track layouts provide a fun, exciting way to experience Go Kart racing.

Joyride Scooter Tour

Explore Los Angeles behind the wheel of a 2 person Scoot as you smile and laugh as you enjoy this 15 minute ride! The rides are $65 per vehicle, and must be reserved online.

Orange County Zoo

The Orange County Zoo is a small friendly zoo in the middle of Irvine Park. The zoo focuses on animals and plants from the southwestern United States. The zoo has reopened as of February 3, 2021.

Disneyland & Disneyland California Adventure

Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park will reopen their doors to the public on April 30, 2021 after one year of closure! This exciting news was announced on March 18th.

SeaWorld San Diego

As of February 6th, SeaWorld San Diego is now open. Stroll through over 100 acres of beautiful outdoor grounds filled with lively animal exhibits including dolphins, sea lions, bat rays, sea otters, turtles, and more. Recapture the wonder of SeaWorld’s renowned live educational presentations with physically distanced seating including the park’s newest presentation, Rescue Tails! With plenty of outdoor seating you can enjoy the chef-crafted culinary items. While the park has reopened, the rides and indoor exhibits are still closed.

Venice Boardwalk

Venice Boardwalk is open to the public. You can grab a bite to eat and shop at stores.

Gondola Cruises

This venetian adventure through the canals of Naples Island offers one of the most unique experiences in Los Angeles! As you travel past the Accademia, to the Ravenna, to the Toledo and the Neapolitan East and then the famous “Treasure Island” bridge, you will notice bridges are the stitches that connect this unique island community of waterfront homes in Long Beach.

Family Nature Walk at Eaton Canyon

Take a guided family nature walk in Eaton Canyon. Meet in front of the building at 1750 N. Altadena Dr. in Pasadena. Tours run every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Downtown Disney District

The Santa Monica Pier is open with limited hours, 10 am – 8 pm. You should enter the Pier from Ocean Front Walk. Not all businesses on the Pier will be open during this limited operation. (Santa Monica Pier will be closed the entire month of January 2021 due to the rise in the number of COVID cases.)

Battleship Iowa Museum

Battleship USS Iowa served our country proudly in WWII, Korea, and the Cold War. Today, the historic U.S. Navy ship is an iconic Los Angeles landmark and considered one of the region’s best outdoor museums for families and visitors of all ages. The outdoor museum is open during the pandemic.

Underwood Family Farms

Underwood Family Farms is open for pick your own fruits and veggies, Spring Festival. Reservations are recommended on weekends but are not required.

Private Vineyard Adventure Tour

The 4x4 Adventure tour is a 2 hour guided Adventure around the Saddlerock Ranch Vineyards. You will get to explore the vineyards and natural areas on the property. Stops may include visits to Chumash Native American archaeological site, organic vegetable garden, mountain top overlooks, and many more. This is a private tour and accommodate from 1-5 guests.

Graham Garden at Halo

Graham Garden at Halo in DTLA is now open. Graham Garden integrates Fountain Figures I-IV, a collection of graceful sculptures created by late Los Angeles artist Robert Graham, in a newly designed outdoor plaza at Halo.

The Huntington

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens will reopen art galleries on April 17, 2021. Attendance will be limited to 25% of capacity and visitors must obtain tickets in advance.


Soulcycle in DTLA is bringing select studios outdoors for classes 7 days a week throughout the summer. The bikes are placed at least 6 feet apart.

Wildlife Learning Center

Wildlife Learning Center is only open for private tours. You need to wear masks and maintain the recommended 6-foot social distancing guidelines between your group and the tour guides.

The Oasis Camel Dairy Farm

Meet, feed and ride camels and other animals on our the Oasis Camel Dairy Farm.

Interactive Tours At Ocean Institute

Experience Ocean Institute with an interactive tour of the entire facility that houses 1,000 marine animals. This tour explores the food chain from top to bottom and offers a hands-on experience with the new horn shark and tidepool touch tank. Weekend Tour Times are 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

Malibu Surf Camping Trip

Experience the Malibu coast, from the ocean to the mountains. These one or two day trips allow beginners a chance to learn surfing in a locally flavored way. Your surf guide will take you on a surf trip giving you personalized surf instruction, insider tips, as well as meals, transportation, and all the gear you need for the weekend.

L.A. County Arboretum

L.A. County Arboretum is open but tickets are limited to preserve safe distancing. Members are required to reserve free tickets online prior to visiting. Non-members must buy tickets online in advance. When visiting, you are required to wear a mask or other face covering. All indoor spaces are closed and all classes, events, and tours activities are suspended.

Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area

The Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in the Baldwin Hills area is open, including its parking lot. The vehicle entrance fee is $6 on weekends and holidays, free on weekdays. Playgrounds and picnic areas in the park remain closed.

Van Buren Drive-In Theatre

This Drive-In Theater offers the current double-feature movies for you to enjoy in the comfort and safety of your cars. The drive-in theatre is open nightly. You must view the movie from within your vehicle, and practice social distancing.

Aquarium of the Pacific

Outdoor Exhibits are open. Explore the outdoor exhibits, including sharks, penguins, seals and sea lions, lorikeets and the ray, moon jelly, sharks, and horseshoe crab touch areas. Arlington Garden in Pasadena

Arlington Garden is a three-acre garden on Caltrans-owned land. The garden is open every day except on Tuesdays during the pandemic and is free to the public. You may not use the furniture, maintain six-feet from others, wear a face mask, and bring your own hand sanitizer during social distancing.

California Botanic Garden

California Botanic Garden is open with limited capacity on Wednesdays through Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 8 pm. Members may visit without reservation, but the general public will need to purchase a ticket in advance.

The Gentle Barn Drive-Thru

You can experience The Gentle Barn in a whole new way. This new drive-thru experience will take you behind the scene to areas of the California property that is normally not open to the public. Starting with a tour of the Sun Chlorella: Healing Center in Agua Dulce, just 10 miles up the road. Then down to the main Gentle Barn property, and ending with you casting a wish in the wishing well.

Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden

The Garden is open sunrise to sunset. Face masks and 6' social distancing are required. No events are scheduled at this time.

The Living Desert

Lake Casitas

Lake Casitas Recreation is open for fishing, camping, bird watching, hiking, and bike riding. Lake Casitas is one of the premier fishing lakes in the region and is known for its "world-class" bass fishing.

Irvine Park Railroad

The train and Wheel Fun Rentals at Irvine Park including bike and paddleboat rentals are open now. Visitors are required to social distance and wear face masks in line and for the train ride. Restrooms will be open as well with hand sanitizer stations. Pony rides and horse rentals will be open as well. Playgrounds remain closed and group areas and picnic benches are taped off and may not be used.

Dana Wharf

Orange County’s Sportfishing, Whale Watching & Charters are open now with restrictions. Take a boat ride with Santa this holiday season around Dana Point Harbor! Tickets are $5 per person. Reservations are required & there is 6 person per reservation limit. Click here for rules and restrictions.

Rentals in the Newport Dunes are open for taking out kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, paddleboats, and Duffy boats.

Dolphin Adventures

Channel Islands Dolphin Adventures specializes in safely leading small groups on dolphin and whale watching excursions out of the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard CA. They take you on a tour aboard a state-of-the-art 30ft commercial tour boat.

Heritage Square

Heritage Square is open on Friday, Saturday & Sunday for Self Guided Walking Tours. View the lovely historic buildings from the outside, stroll through the beautiful grounds and take a look at the garden in progress. Tickets are available online.

Rose Bowl Loop Trail

The 3.1-mile loop trail near Pasadena is now open to the public for hiking. Everyone need to practice social distancing and wear facial coverings while on the trials. Lot 1 is the only open parking lot and you can only park there for 90 minutes.

Paramount Drive-In Theatre

The drive-In will operate at 50% capacity. Customers must leave 9’ spacing between vehicles. General admission is $10 for adults and $3.50 for kids 5 through 8. Kids under 5 are free.

Street Food Cinema Drive-In

Watch a movie in the great outdoors while staying safe and cozy in your car. Car entry is $20 and general admission is $8 per person. Please check the website for the schedule.

Catalina Express

Catalina Express continues to operate for essential travel to and from Catalina Island twice a day. All passengers and employees are required to wear a face-covering on board or mask when in the terminals or on board the vessels.

Jetski Adventure To Catalina Island

Ride a jet-ski from Long Beach to Catalina Island and experience all the wonder that exists in the offshore playground. This adventure puts you "face to face" with hundreds of pacific ocean dolphins. This is an all-day open water jet-ski adventure and includes a jet-ski ride across the ocean to Catalina Island, riding with the dolphins, swimming thru caverns, and snorkeling in crystal clear waters.

Mt Baldy Resort

Mount Baldy Resort is open for tubing. Take a serene alpine lift ride to the Top of the Notch recreation area for snow-play at an elevation of nearly 7,800ft. The tubing park is made up of lanes for sliding and walking with a stoping hill at the bottom. In the meantime, you can enjoy the Tubing Park! Face coverings are required and you need to practice social distancing.

Catalina Island Beaches & Moorings

Catalina Island's remote beaches are open for those who have the permission and ability to access them. The Conservancy's remote moorings have been reopened. The Harbors General Store is open as is the West End Gallery for meals and drinks to go.

San Diego Beaches

San Diego County has reopened its beaches for swimming, surging, kayaking, and paddle-boarding. Group activities, sunbathing, or boating, however, are not allowed.

Oasis Camel Dairy

Oasis Camel Dairy Farm is open now! They are booking private tours where you can meet and feed camels and other animals.

Ostrichland USA

Considered a Central Coast landmark, OstrichLand USA near Solvang, California is a popular destination for families. Watch, feed, and get to know amazing ostriches and emus. The highlight of a visit is feeding the ostriches and emus. You cam get close and personal with these big birds and be safe at the same time. Tickets are $5 per adults and $2 for children. You can also buy food for the birds for $1.

Santa Monica Mountain Trails

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area has reopened most of its trails, parking lots, and restrooms. National Park Service urges hikers to wear face coverings and keep social distancing.

Personal Care Services

As of January 25, 2021, personal care services such as hair and nail salons can open for indoor operations at 25% capacity in LA and Orange County.

Playgrounds & Outdoor Fitness Equipment

As of December 9, 2020, all playgrounds have reopened again for public use with mandatory social distancing and limited use up to 30 minutes.


Starting March 15th, Restaurants can reopen for indoor dining at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is less. The tables must be at least eight feet apart, with each table having not more than 6 people. Bars that don't serve food can't reopen yet. But Wineries, breweries and tasting rooms that don't serve food can reopen outdoors. Also, up to three households can now dine together outdoors.

Hotels and Motels

As of January 25, 2021, tourism and individual travel is permitted at hotels and motels can reopen in LA and Orange County.

Zoos, Museums, Aquariums

Starting March 15, 2021 Museums, Aquariums & Zoos can reopen indoor areas at 25% capacity.

California Theme Parks

As of April 1, 2021, California Theme Parks can open at 15% capacity. Disneyland announced on March 11, 2021 that they will be reopening in late March.

Family Entertainment Centers

Family Entertainment Centers can reopen for outdoor operations at 50% capacity, effective January 25, 2021.

Miniature Golf - Go Karts - Batting Cages

Miniature Gold, Go Karts, and Batting Cages can reopen as of January 25, 2021 for outdoor operations at 50% capacity.


Starting March 15th, Gyms can reopen indoor activities at 10% capacity. But saunas and steam rooms remain closed.

Shopping malls

Outdoor and indoors Shopping Malls are open with modifications. Max 25% capacity.

Los Angeles County Beaches

Los Angeles County's beaches are open with restrictions. That is they will be open only for active use like swimming, surfing, walking, biking. This means people will not be able to lay down on the beach or picnic. Beach parking lots are now open.

Amusement Parks

Theme Parks like Disneyland, Disney California Adventure Park, Knott’s Berry Farm, and LEGOLAND can reopen at 15% capacity as early as April 1. Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain can reopen as soon as Los Angeles County moves to the red tier, which could happen on March 15, 2021.

Movie Theaters

Starting March 15th, Movie theaters can reopen indoors at 25% capacity with reserved seating only where each group is seated with at least 6 feet of distance in all directions between any other groups. For a list of movie theaters that are open, click here.

Outdoor Live Events

Outdoor live events like sports and concerts are allowed to reopen at 20% capacity as of April 1st.

LAUSD Schools

The Los Angeles Unified School District and the union reached a tentative agreement that targets a mid-April return for preschool and elementary school children and end of April for middle and high school students.
