California Science Center is Reopening on March 27th: All You Need To Know!

Your little scientist can explore California Science Center again starting March 27, 2021 when the Museum is reopening after one year of closure!

While some high-touch galleries and exhibits are temporarily closed, many Science Center exhibits have been adapted for hands-free interaction, allowing children to safely and comfortably have fun while learning about science.


What parts of the Science Center are open?


Space shuttle Endeavour in the Samuel Oschin Pavilion, Endeavour Together: Parts and People, SKETCH Foundation Air and Space Exhibits, parts of Ecosystems including many live animal habitat exhibits, the Mission 26: The Big Endeavour photo exhibition, the IMAX Theater, and the special exhibition The Art of the Brick.


The Art of the Brick


The Art of the Brick is back with intriguing works of art built entirely of LEGO bricks. Accompanying the exhibition are instructions for hands-on science activities to enjoy at home using LEGO bricks.



Air and Space Exhibits


Explore the Science Center’s air and space artifacts, learn about human space flight, aeronautics, and more with exhibits including:

  • Space shuttle Endeavour in the Samuel Oschin Pavilion

  • Endeavour Together: Parts and People, an accompanying exhibit gallery

  • Apollo-Soyuz Command Module

  • Gemini 11 Capsule

  • Mercury-Redstone 2

  • Mission 26: The Big Endeavour


Ecosystems


Observe live animals in Ecosystems with many galleries illustrating different ecological environments now open, including:

  • Rocky Shore

  • Desert

  • Kelp Forest

  • Rot Room

  • Global Zone


IMAX Theater


Immerse yourself in different worlds on the seven-story high movie screen with two exciting and classic films, Hubble and Under the Sea.



Virtual Programs


Education programs for schools are currently virtual and can be found on the Virtual Field Trips page. Live shows and demonstrations at the California Science Center are temporarily on hold. The online Stuck at Home Science program contains a library of activities and demonstrations, available for free, with activity sheets in English and Spanish.


Hours


Exhibits are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Box Office is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Tickets


As always there is no admission to the museum, but timed-entry reservations are required for everyone. Timed tickets are available for purchase for popular special exhibition,The Art of the Brick, as well as for some spectacular IMAX films. Members have the opportunity to make reservations online or by phone on March 20, and reservation opens to the public on March 24th.
