Tree Lighting Ceremonies in Los Angeles and the Westside
Downtown, the Fairfax District and the Westside light up first. Here are the city's biggest countdowns, starting in the heart of LA and heading toward the beach.
Los Angeles Union Station
800 N. Alameda St.
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Thursday, November 19, 2026, 6–8 p.m.
Union Station's grand Ticket Concourse is one of the most beautiful spots in the city to watch a tree light up. Host Charles Phoenix returns, Mariachi Ausente opens the show, and the 10-piece jazz band Lizzy & the Triggermen headlines. Stilt walkers roam the station, kids can line up for photos with Santa, and Santa and his elves lead the countdown for the station's 30-foot tree.
It's free for all ages, and tickets are not required. An optional Union Station tree lighting RSVP is available.
Parent Tip: This is a train station, so ride Metro in. The B and D Lines, the L Line and Metrolink all stop right inside.

The Grove
189 The Grove Dr.
Los Angeles, CA 90036
Monday, November 16, 2026, 7 pm - 10 pm
LA's most famous tree lighting turns 25 this year. Lance Bass returns as host for a night of live performances, a drone show and a fireworks finale, and kids get to count down as the giant tree glows, catch the season's first snowfall and spot Santa making his grand arrival.
It's free and open to the public, but space is limited. Check The Grove's 25th anniversary celebration page for the performer lineup as the date gets closer.
Parent Tip: Arrive at 5 p.m. to reserve a spot. Can't make the big night? The Grove has a nightly snowfall at 6 and 8 p.m. through December 31.
Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center
135 N. Grand Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Nov 30, 2026, 5 pm to 7 pm
The county's official tree glows on Jerry Moss Plaza, surrounded by the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. In past years, the free celebration has featured a marketplace of local artists, holiday crafts, youth choirs and a mariachi finale at the tree lighting, plus free hot chocolate and cookies.
Parent Tip: Grand Park is right across the street, so let the kids run off their energy on the lawn before the ceremony starts.
Citadel Outlets, 100 Citadel Drive
Commerce, CA 90040
Saturday, November 7, 2026; concert begins at 5 p.m.
The season's first big countdown happens at the Citadel, which celebrates its 25th tree lighting with a free concert in front of what the center bills as the world's tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree. This year's lineup includes Kelia Richards, SZN4, the Full Circle Boys and OCSA Montage!, and Santa lights the tree before a snow show at center court.
No tickets are needed. See the Citadel's tree lighting page for headliner updates.
Parent Tip: This one is coming up fast. Eat an early dinner before you go, because the food court gets packed once the concert starts.
Rodeo Drive, between Santa Monica Blvd. and Wilshire Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Thursday, November 19, 2026, early evening, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Instead of one tree, Beverly Hills lights up a whole street. The palm trees along Rodeo Drive get wrapped in thousands of twinkling lights and oversized ornaments, and the whimsical Holiday Helpers display makes a fun photo stop for kids while grown-ups admire the dressed-up storefronts. It's free, and the lights usually stay on well into the new year.
Parent Tip: If the opening-night crowd is too much, come back on a weeknight in December. The lights are just as pretty and the sidewalks are calmer.

Last year, the evening opened with a Sled-tacular festival with snow sledding, carnival games and treats, followed by a 6 p.m. tree lighting with music from Culver City's public school students and a countdown led by the mayor. Santa stopped by afterward.
Last year's event was free, but sledding wristbands had to be reserved ahead of time on the Downtown Culver City website. Watch for the 2026 details in mid-November.

Tips for Tree Lighting Night With Kids
A little planning turns a crowded countdown into a holiday memory. Here's what helps most.
Arrive early: The big ceremonies fill up an hour or more before the countdown. Bring snacks and something to do while you wait.
Dress warm: Evenings drop into the 40s and 50s, especially near the beach and in the foothills. Hats and gloves make a big difference.
Pick a meeting spot: Choose an easy landmark in case anyone gets separated, and write your phone number on younger kids' wrists.
Skip the parking stress: Metro reaches Union Station, The Music Center, Santa Monica and Downtown Long Beach.
Bring a donation: Many tree lightings collect toys, coats or pajamas. It's an easy way to include giving in the celebration.
