11th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Union Station

Los Angeles Union Station rings in the holiday season with its 11th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The festivities fill the station's historic Ticket Concourse, where soaring ceilings and vintage architecture make a dazzling backdrop for a family night out. Mid-century pop culture personality Charles Phoenix returns as host for the free, family-friendly celebration.

The evening's soundtrack comes courtesy of Metro Art Presents, with Los Angeles mariachi group Mariachi Ausente opening the show and the 10-piece jazz band Lizzy & the Triggermen taking the headline spot. Towering stilt walkers in festive costumes will roam the station, and kids can line up for photos with Santa and special guests from the North Pole. Sweet treats and other family-friendly activities round out the night.

The big moment arrives when Santa and his elves head to the stage to lead the countdown and light the station's 30-foot tree. The event is free for all ages, and tickets are not required, although an optional Eventbrite RSVP is available. Getting there is part of the fun for train-loving kids, since the A, B, D and J Metro lines all stop right at Union Station.
