  • The Milky Way, an intimate Family Restaurant in LA!

From the moment that I walked into this absolute treasure on Pico and Doheny, I was struck by the calm, and the warmth of the ambiance. It was apparent that the love that the owners poured into this Los Angeles landmark over 40 years ago is as palpable as ever. The newly renovated space allows for parts of the past to peak through in the form of autographed bricks from the Golden age of Hollywood, when this was a popular Italian restaurant, and mementos spanning the time when Mrs. Adler was at the helm. The restaurant is a pleasant place with great food, and fantastic service; much like a family space, inclusive, and cozy. There was a reverence for the care that its‘ creators brought to it; it is more than just a nice place to eat. We were at the restaurant for a Sunday Brunch and ordered the French Toast, Latkes, and Eggs Benedict, which were all beautifully plated and exceptionally delicious! It was such a relaxing Sunday, eating in tranquility with the soothing sound of the piano in the background. The story is that when Bernie, and Leah Adler (Spielberg's Mom) opened the doors to The Milky Way in 1977, "their vision was to offer fine kosher food to the Jewish Community at a time when such a thing didn't exist in Los Angeles. Leah wanted to introduce interesting fare to many who had never tasted dishes like Cajun, Mexican, or Thai. Shortly after opening, it was very apparent that the main attraction wasn't just the food, but was Leah herself!" "From the framed family photographs to the movie posters headlined by Adler’s son director Steven Spielberg, dining inside really feels like stepping into Adler’s own kitchen." --Eater Los Angeles The Milky Way Restaurant is located at 9108 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles . CA 90035, Tel 310.859.0004. The restaurant is open Mondays through Thursdays from 11:30am to 2:30pm, and from 5:00 to 9:00pm; Fridays from 11:30am to 2:00pm. It is closed on Saturdays, and open on Sundays from 4:00 pm to 9:00pm, and from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for Sunday Brunch. The Milky Way is also available for private events up to 60 guests seated, and semi-private events for up to 40 guests. • Things to Consider While Planning a Trip to Spain From Los Angeles!

If you are planning a vacation with variety, you should consider Spain. Here you can explore historical sights, fine arts, scenic beaches, and mouthwatering cuisine. The best time to visit Spain depends upon the places you want to go and what you want to do. Tourism is high during the spring and fall seasons because of the moderate climate. This is the best time to plan your trip from LA to Spain. During any time of the year, you can explore many places as per your interest and timeline. How is the Weather in Spain? There’s not much difference in the weather between Spain and LA. The difference in temperatures is around 4.5 to 7 degrees Celsius. However, summers could be really hot, so plan accordingly. Summers in Spain are dry, sunny, and hot. The temperatures climb up to the 80s during summers around the Madrid region. If you go to Seville, you'll feel more heat with temperatures about 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Barcelona during summers is similar but more sticky. Areas near the Atlantic coast are colder destinations to travel in summers. Here the temperatures are around 70 degrees, accompanied by breezy winds. Temperatures drop too much during the winters in Spain. Madrid experiences temperatures in the 30s, while some hilly areas have freezing weather. A good time to visit if you are a Ski lover. Northern regions experience plenty of rain during winters. Spring and fall have a moderate climate, with clear blue skies and calming heat. The weather in Spanish regions is unpredictable during these months. You can still enjoy your vacations without the blazing heat and chilling air. Famous Festivals of Spain During festivals, you will notice a hike in hotel prices. But when compared to LA, the prices are still reasonable to book. These festivals are once-in-a-lifetime experiences and worth trying. From rural to urban and small to big cities, each place has its unique celebrations all through the year. The Holy Week is a main Festival throughout the country. But the festivity in Seville and Malaga is remarkable. You should plan a vacation during this time, even if you are a non-religious person. If you want to enjoy the La Tomatina festival, then you have to visit Buñol during the last week of August. Over 20000 people are involved in the La Tomatina festival every year. The participants throw tomatoes at each other, covering everything and everyone in red. Plan your travel well in advance as tickets sell out very fast during this time. Saint John's eve is another beautiful festival in Spain, it comes at the end of June and marks the start of summer. The festival night is celebrated with family and friends together. Where they enjoy a few drinks, watch fireworks, and plan for upcoming summers. People have bonfires on the beaches and jump over them as a good luck sign. Famous Attractions to Visit in Spain Spain is famous for the most beautiful Cathedrals in the world. Montserrat is a well-known religious site in Spain and is at the top of a 7-mile high mountain. You can travel by bus through the narrow roads to reach the destination. The views are spectacular from the bus but can toss a few people's stomachs. To be on the safe side, you must book your trip a few days in advance. Barcelona has the famous The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família. It is a massive unfinished Catholic Church designed by Antoni Gaudí. The church will be finalized by 2026. You can get a complete view of the city by reaching the top of one of its towers. However, it has an elevator to go to the top, but the visitors have to return through the stairs. Famous Foods and Drinks in Spain All the seasons are good to enjoy the food in Spain. Summer menus have many seafood items and grilled fish along with gazpacho(veg-soup). Jamon, a famous Spanish food, is a must-try regardless of whatever time you visit Spain. It is made by salting the Ham's legs and hanging them for a few months to dry. Best enjoyed with crusty bread and a glass of cava (Spanish wine). Another dish to try out in Spain is Paella, a rice-based delicacy. There are many versions of Paella, but the original one is with chicken, rabbit, or seafood. You can find this at every restaurant in Spain but be careful, from where you order? For an authentic taste, try this dish from a busy restaurant. What is the Best Time to Book a Flight to Spain? The total flight duration is around 12 hours to 16 hours from LA to Spain. This depends on the flight and the destination airport you choose. The cost of your flight depends on various factors. Some of them are the source, destination, how much in advance you book tickets, and airlines. You can still save a few dollars while booking your flight to Spain by knowing these simple facts: Flights are cheapest in the "dead zones" during the first two weeks of December and the end of January. Flights are cheap because fewer tourists fly during this time. When booking your tickets, set alerts on booking apps. You will be alerted whenever the price drops during your set time. Always remember that the cheapest days to book air travel are the weekdays. So plan your holidays from Wednesday to Wednesday.

  • Getting Ready for Back to School and Helping Your Kids With Distance Learning!

Distance learning is a big challenge for many parents! Not only we have to supervise our children, many of us have to work, cook, and clean while kids are staying home. Below we came up with some ideas to help your kids transition to the new school year, including tips for helping them with distance learning. The most important thing to remember is to start with firm and clear expectations. Send the kids to bed early and at the same time every night at least one week before school starts. Set Regular wake-up time, and get the kids ready for school as if they are physically going to school. Make sure kids have a healthy breakfast before start of the day. Designate a quiet room or an area at your home for distance learning. Write down your expectations and house rules and talk to your kids before school starts. Be very clear about consequences for not following rules. Make sure to follow a daily schedule. Set parental control on your kids' devices so they can't access other programs or sites during school hours other than school programs and websites. Make sure your kids have enough time to snack between classes. Go for short walks during break time so kids can get some of their energy out. If you work at home, designate a specific time that you will be available to help your kids with their distance learning. Prepare a snack, lunch, and dinner schedule. Take a lunch break with your kids and eat together, and talk about your day. Don't allow your kids watch TV or play games during the week. Get the more challenging homework out of the way first when they have more energy, and leave the easy work for later. Award them for following your rules at the end of each school day. Avoid yelling and screaming; instead be firm and follow through with your consequences. Make sure that they have enough physical activities after a long day of virtual learning. Listen to music, do yoga, or mediate with your kids for at least 20 minutes every night before bedtime. Be kind to yourself and your kids during these difficult times. Remember that this is a temporary situation. You May Also Enjoy: 73 Activities To Do With Kids At Home During School Closure!

  • Easy Ways to Earn Money for Traveling Abroad

When you travel abroad, it is like no other experience. Students who want to see the world before entering the workforce and getting bogged down with their official adult lives can earn this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by studying abroad. As such, thousands of students take advantage of this opportunity annually. According to Washington University in St. Louis, 40% of their student body population studies abroad while attending WashU. And that is just one school. However, even for students and all the resources that their college provides to help them on their journey, studying abroad still takes money. So, here are a few easy (and legitimate) ways to earn money for traveling abroad: Teach English to Fellow Students English is the most widely spoken language in the world. So, students throughout the globe know the benefit of learning English. It doesn’t matter if you are at home or already on your way to learning abroad. You can use online innovation to teach English to fellow students, regardless of how far away you are. Get a Loan Of course, getting a loan sounds easier said than done. As a college student, you likely aren’t making a lot of money. Plus, you don’t have any kind of credit due to your age. Fortunately, if you apply for a car title loan, you don’t have to worry so much about your credit score or history. All you need to do to get started is search for car title loans near me. Other types of loans available to college students are credit cards or possibly more financial aid. Become a Tour Guide You can become a tour guide in your city at home, or when you start studying abroad. Either way, this helps you learn more about the city you are in, helps your communication skills, and introduces you to many different people every time you work. Plus, if you enjoy this type of work enough, there are plenty of growth opportunities in this field. So, you could get to a point where you make a living by traveling and teaching people about places you love. Who knows, maybe you’ll even settle back in the country where you started this journey, studying abroad. Sell Used Books Used books, both reference and otherwise, have a substantial market. After you finish a college course or read the latest paperback, what will you do with it? Instead of letting it take up space in your dorm or one of the countless boxes in your parent’s attic, sell it! There are plenty of places online where students and other reading enthusiasts are eagerly searching for bargain books. So, you’re in luck! Ultimately, we all need a little extra cash here and there. Yet, it is even more important to buckle down and earn a little extra cash when it comes to something as exciting and potentially life-changing as studying abroad. So, hopefully, one or more of these easy ways to earn money for traveling abroad have broadened your money-making horizons.

  • How Top Brands are Using Augmented Reality to Appeal to Kids

Augmented Reality (AR) has multiple applications. It’s used in commerce, visual art, industrial manufacturing, and even stem education. And whenever it’s used, it enhances human-computer interaction. And big brands have taken notice. They are now using the technology to market their products and services to tech-savvy kids. Augmented and mixed reality apps are even better because they engage all of a child’s senses and force them to move around, helping them to stay in shape. Here’s how businesses are using AR to appeal to kids: Smart Apps Any parent would embrace technology that could help their child become a better version of themselves. Manufacturers are tapping into Augmented Reality to help children build habits that last a lifetime. For example, Colgate’s Smart Toothbrush makes brushing teeth easy and fun. The mobile app coaches kids to brush their teeth properly and motivates them to brush their teeth daily. It offers an interactive gaming experience, letting kids earn rewards and unlock new worlds. The app has a timer and a parents’ dashboard. The timer reminds kids to brush their teeth while the dashboard lets parents monitor the daily progress. The app offers a simple way to track and improve children’s dental hygiene. It also offers a fun, augmented brushing experience every time. In-Store Marketing If done well, digital marketing is very appealing--even to children. It is more engaging, colorful, and attractive. When AR is used for in-store marketing, especially on storefronts, it captivates children. It makes them feel they have to get whatever is being advertised. An AR store window is more eye-catching for children and arouses their natural curiosity. It makes them want to go inside the store to discover what awaits. Once inside the store, they can interact with digital installations, interactive signage, or mixed reality games! Digital Tools for Learning and Reading Reading Tools For some children, reading isn’t the most enjoyable activity. To motivate children to read, companies such as AugPix have developed Augmented Reality books. These books use technology to make reading exciting and fun--the characters come to life before their eyes! Coloring Tools AR coloring books help younger kids hone their skills by providing 3D illustrations which walk around the table. Popar enhances reading and learning by incorporating AR technology into its books and charts. Children can use the app to make content in the books and charts come to life as they read. Biology Tools Curiscope’s Virtual Tee is making ripples in the education industry. The company’s t-shirt that’s created using augmented reality helps children learn about the human body exceptionally. Physics Tools Danone designed the Rastishka AR app to teach kids about the solar system while promoting yogurt. Each Danone yogurt has a small magnet placed at the top. Pointing a camera at the magnet animates constellations. Kids can gaze at stars forming constellations and planets spinning around. A voice gives information about the planets and helps kids learn. The automotive augmented reality market is here to stay. It’s advancing with each day, and it's only a matter of time before it becomes commonplace. More brands should take advantage of this technology and capture their market share.

  • 4 Creative Ways to Make Money While Traveling Around the World

You love traveling, but you need money to travel. So, how do you come up with the cash you need to travel the world—or just travel at all. We’ll let you in on a little secret: you can make money while traveling. You’re probably thinking, “How can I possibly make money while traveling?” Here are four ways you you can make money while traveling: Freelancing Want to adopt a 'digital nomad' lifestyle? You can, thanks to freelancing platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork. You can apply for jobs from anywhere in the world and get hired by individuals or the world’s top brands. However, to be successful, you must have a marketable skill, like web design, writing, coding, or graphic design. You can start applying for small projects at first, and once you build your reputation, you can apply for bigger projects. Teach a Language If you're fluent in English, you can teach it as a foreign language. The demand for English tutors around the world is high. If English is your native language, you're very lucky because schools and individuals prefer to employ people whose mother tongue is English. To increase your chances of finding work, you can take an English course, like TEFL. If you speak a different language, you can still find work. If you’re a native French speaker, locate the Alliance Française in the country you’re in and inquire about work. Try the Goethe Institute if you speak German. You can also create an account on sites like verbling.com and tandem.net and start teaching online. Take Great Pictures and Sell Them Did you know you can make use of your impressive photography skills while travelling? You can! Take awesome pictures of your holiday destination and upload them to sites like Shutterstock, istock, and Alamy, and 500px. iStock pays 15% to 45% for Photos, Videos, and Illustrations. Shutterstock’s rates range between 25 and 38 cents for images. As you can see, you have to sell a lot of images to make a decent amount of money. But these sites offer a quick way to make some extra cash. And when you’re traveling the world, every little bit helps. Make Things to Sell If you can make things with your hands, you can make money. You can make art pieces, crafts, draw portraits, or paint. This can be a profitable venture if you can get the raw materials for free rather than buy. You can sell your products in independent stores, at the local market or online (on sites like Etsy). You can also sell them to your fellow travelers who want unique souvenirs to take back home. Carry some of your supplies with you when you’re traveling because you never know when you’ll need them. If you have to travel urgently, you can search “title pawn near me” to find a reputable lender. You can get the loan in one day if you meet all the qualifications. But keep in mind that you’ll have to repay it in 30 days--and that’s where making money as you travel comes in. Disclaimer: This article is a paid post.
