This Resort in San Diego is a Perfect Spot For a Family Getaway!

When planning a family trip, finding the perfect balance between fun activities for kids and adult-appropriate rest and relaxation is important. You want to make sure that everyone in your group has a great time, as well as get the best value for your money. Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa is the ultimate family-friendly resort on Mission Bay in San Diego. With all-inclusive amenities and activities for everyone, it’s an ideal place for families to relax and have fun together.

The first thing that is so striking about the grounds as you make your way through the lobby is just how different the ambiance of the resort makes you feel. From a lovely waterfall in the lobby that leads to koi ponds that bubble along the palm tree-lined paths, you will take to your rooms to the breathtaking views overlooking mission bay and the Pacific, they make you feel a world away from the city.

There is so much to enjoy at the resort, from simple things like grabbing a chair on the beach or relaxing at the private pool and jacuzzi while ordering a spot of lunch to more adventurous activities like water sports rentals at the foot of the resort.

The resort has a variety of rooms to choose from, so you can find something that will be perfect for your family. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable layouts that make them feel like a home away from home. Waking up to the view of the oft-tranquil and placid mission bay will prepare you to explore the many amenities the resort offers. At night, you can enjoy fireworks from Sea World San Diego right from the balcony of your room.

The rooms have full kitchens with appliances. In bigger rooms, you can find a small dining table and a seating area. There’s also a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and stove, so you can even cook in your room while on vacation. The kitchens are stocked with all the essentials you need to feel comfortable.

If you are not up to cooking, you can enjoy delicious meals at the resort’s restaurant, Oceana, with the beautiful view of the bay, or grab a sandwich or salad from Lava Java Cafe. Oceana has a variety of dining options for everyone, from casual fare for breakfast and lunch to more elegant dinners. There are also plenty of options for kids, so everyone can enjoy delicious food together. Moray’s outdoor lounge is another great option for families. Moray's lounge features a tropical setting lined with tiki torches, fire pit tables, and lush flora.

There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, which is great for swimming, lounging, and kids’ activities. The pool is also great for keeping cool in summer, making it the perfect spot for relaxing and reading a book. There are lots of lounge chairs and sun loungers, making it easy to relax and enjoy the pool. The resort also has a poolside bar, so you can grab drinks and snacks.

The resort offers a variety of water activities, from kayaking, powerboats, and paddle boards, to sailing, surfing, and body boarding. The powerboats are really fun for the whole family. You can rent the boats hourly and enjoy an hour or so cruising the bay.

Another fun and memorable activity to do is taking a one-hour cruise right from the resort's beach. The Bahia Belle Cruise is the perfect way to explore the bay, and the views are especially beautiful at sunset. You can go inside a historic paddle steamer on the cruise and see Mission Bay from a whole new perspective. There are also plenty of outdoor viewing areas so you can see the bay from a distance.

Kids can spend time with their friends or make new friends at the kids club and learn new skills. Keiki Club is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Near the pool, you can find an arcade with games for all ages. The kids club and Arcade are great options if you want to have some alone time or get a massage at the resort's spa. Other activities for kids at the resort are self-guided scavenger hunts, lei-making and hula lessons, movies on the bay, poolside entertainment, yoga on the bay, and more.

In the evening, when you are ready to slow down, you should book a private bonfire. The bonfire is on the beach, so you can relax on the sand and enjoy the view as the flames dance in the night sky or toast some s'mores with the kids.

Don't forget to take a photo or two with colorful talking macaws at the resort at the bird's encounter.

Catamaran Resort & Spa is really an ideal choice for a family vacation or a getaway and it is only a 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive from Los Angeles. For more information about the resort and to book a room, click here.
