Pediatricians in Los Angeles: A Neighborhood-by-Neighborhood Guide (2026-2027)

Aug 31
19 min read

Finding a great pediatrician in Los Angeles can feel a little like finding parking at the Grove on a Saturday. You know it exists; you just need to know where to look. Whether you're expecting your first baby, just moved across town, or finally ready to break up with a 45-minute drive to the doctor, this guide to pediatricians in Los Angeles is organized the way LA parents actually live: by neighborhood.

We checked every address below on each practice's or health network's own website, so you won't be driving to an office that moved three years ago. We also rounded up pediatric urgent care and after-hours options, how to verify a doctor's license and board certification, and the well-visit schedule you'll be living by for the next couple of decades. And one important note before we dive in: in an emergency, call 911.

Key Takeaways

  • What's inside: Pediatricians in Los Angeles sorted by area, from the Westside and the Valley to Pasadena and the South Bay, including 27 independent private practices, with addresses checked on official sites in October and November 2026.

  • Big networks: Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's, UCLA Health, Kaiser Permanente, Providence and Kids & Teens Medical Group all have multiple LA pediatric offices.

  • After hours: CHLA Arcadia Urgent Care runs Mon–Fri 4–11 p.m. and Sat–Sun 9–4; CHLA Virtual Urgent Care is booked at 833-CHLAHealth (833-245-2432).

  • Verify a doctor: Use the Medical Board of California license lookup and the American Board of Pediatrics certification check.

  • Well visits: Expect visits at 3–5 days old, then 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 months, then every year from age 3 through 18.

  • Emergencies: If your child is seriously hurt or can't breathe, call 911 right away.

How We Built This Pediatrician Guide

Plenty of "best pediatrician" lists online were written years ago and still send families to practices that have closed or moved. So we went straight to each practice's own site and included only offices whose addresses we could confirm.

We don't list ratings, languages, or "accepting new patients" status unless the practice's own site says so, because those details change constantly. Always confirm hours, insurance and availability with the office before you book.

Pediatricians on the Westside (Santa Monica, Brentwood, West LA, Culver City, Playa Vista and Marina del Rey)

The Westside has the deepest bench of pediatric offices in the city, from cozy independents to big-network clinics. Here's where to start.

2216 Santa Monica Blvd., 2nd Floor Santa Monica, CA 90404

This independent Santa Monica practice offers access to a board-certified pediatrician by phone 24/7/365, provides same-day appointments for urgent needs, and maintains Saturday office hours, along with availability on Sundays and holidays. Expecting? They offer prenatal interviews. The practice posts an annual administration fee of $525 per family, and its doctors have hospital privileges at Santa Monica–UCLA and Providence St. John's.

Insider tip: parking is paid ($5 for the first 30 minutes), so build that into your newborn-visit game plan. Call (310) 264-2100.

2210 Santa Monica Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90404

Just down the block from Pacific Ocean Pediatrics, this independent practice is open weekdays 9–4 and keeps Saturday mornings for sick visits only. Same-day sick appointments are available, and expecting parents can book a meet-and-greet to tour the office and meet the providers. It also offers lactation consults, sports physicals and ear piercing. Call 310-829-3525.

901 Montana Ave., Suite C Santa Monica, CA 90403

A Montana Avenue favorite that has cared for Santa Monica kids for more than 30 years. Office hours are weekdays 9–5, sick kids are always seen the same day, and the practice says after-hours visits, Sunday visits and even house calls can be arranged when needed. Call 310-393-9784.

2001 Santa Monica Blvd., Suite 865W Santa Monica, CA 90404

Check the location page for the current phone number before you call.

2825 Santa Monica Blvd., Suite 104 Santa Monica, CA 90404

11633 San Vicente Blvd., Suite 312 Los Angeles, CA 90049

Founded in 2010, this Brentwood practice says same-day appointments are always available, and it keeps separate waiting and exam rooms for well and sick kids. After hours, the on-call doctor returns calls within an hour on weeknights and all weekend. Heads up: it's out of network, so you pay at the visit and get a superbill to send to your insurance. Call (310) 207-8200.

12301 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 120 Brentwood, CA 90025

Open weekdays 8:30–4:30 by appointment only (no walk-ins), with weekend, after-hours and even home visits available by appointment. Expecting parents can come in for a free visit to meet the doctors and see the office. Insurance depends on the doctor: some take most major PPO plans and others are out of network, so ask when you call 310-979-7337.

11318 National Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064

What makes this one stand out is that it pairs pediatric primary care with behavioral health services, so you can bring up sleep, anxiety or attention worries in a familiar place. Same-day sick visits are available. Call 310-231-9150 and check the site for daily hours.

200 UCLA Medical Plaza, Suite 265 Los Angeles, CA 90095

A handy pick for Playa Vista, Westchester and Del Rey families, open weekdays 9–5. Call 424-315-2202.

8501 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 201 Beverly Hills, CA 90211

Pediatricians on the Eastside (Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park and Glendale)

We'll be honest: this is the thinnest area for independent pediatric practices we could verify, and some popular older listings have closed. If you're on the Eastside, here are your best starting points, including a well-established independent group just over the Glendale line.

4700 W. Sunset Blvd., Pediatrics, 3rd Floor Los Angeles, CA 90027

For Kaiser members, this is the big Sunset Boulevard campus, with pediatrics open weekdays 8–5. Facility info: 1-888-956-1616.

Children's Hospital Los Angeles sits just down the street at 4650 Sunset Blvd., but it works as a specialty and hospital campus rather than a neighborhood pediatrician's office. To find a community pediatrician connected to CHLA, browse the CHLA Care Network pediatrician list. Kids & Teens Hollywood (above) is also a short drive away.

1500 E. Chevy Chase Dr., Suite 250 Glendale, CA 91206

Just over the line from Los Feliz and Atwater Village, this busy independent group lists ten pediatricians on its site, keeps separate sick and well waiting rooms, and offers telemedicine for some visits. It's an affiliate office of the CHLA Health Network, which also lists this address. Call (818) 246-7260.

The Major LA Health Networks at a Glance

Not sure whether to go independent or join a big network? Here's the quick cheat sheet. Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's has offices from Santa Monica and Playa Vista to Encino and Inglewood, with 24-hour access for urgent questions and a virtual care app for kids 3 and up. UCLA Health has the widest map on this list, stretching from Westwood to Porter Ranch, Pasadena and Torrance. Kaiser Permanente is for members only, but several of its pediatric departments offer evening and weekend appointments. Providence runs offices in Burbank (Facey) and Torrance. Kids & Teens Medical Group has 25 clinics across Greater LA plus its own after-hours urgent care.

Independent practices can feel more personal, and several on this list post 24/7 on-call doctors. A few, like Calabasas Pediatrics Wellness Center, Dr. Anita Sabeti's practice and Yuli MD Pediatrics, use concierge or membership models, and some independents are out of network, so ask about costs up front. Neither route is "better"; it comes down to your insurance, your commute and the vibe you want.

Pediatric Urgent Care and After-Hours Options in Los Angeles

Kids have impeccable timing. The ear infection always starts Friday at 9 p.m. Here's where to turn when your pediatrician's office is closed (and remember, for a true emergency, call 911).

468 E. Santa Clara St. Arcadia, CA 91006 Mon–Fri 4–11 p.m., Sat–Sun 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

This is the only in-person urgent care listed on CHLA's urgent care page, and it takes both walk-ins and scheduled visits. It's a lifesaver for San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena families. Call 626-795-7177.

Online video visits Mon–Fri 5 p.m.–midnight, Sat–Sun 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

CHLA's virtual urgent care sees kids up to age 21 who are in California at the time of the visit, and you don't need a referral or to be a CHLA patient. It's appointment-based, not on demand, so book by calling 833-CHLAHealth (833-245-2432). Visits are billed like an in-person urgent care visit, with a discounted price for uninsured families.

In person and virtual (check the site for the clinic location) Weeknights 6–11 p.m., weekends all day, virtual 24/7

The Kids & Teens network's after-hours urgent care is open when most offices are dark, and its virtual care runs around the clock. Call (818) 280-4268 to confirm where to go.

18321 Clark St. Tarzana, CA 91356 Open 24/7

This is an emergency department, not urgent care, with pediatric emergency services around the clock. Main line: 818-881-0800.

A few more helpful options: UCLA Pediatric Immediate Care in Westwood offers scheduled and same-day visits when your regular doctor isn't available (Mon–Thu 8–5, Fri 9–4), and UCLA also lists weekend and after-hours pediatric immediate care at its Santa Monica hospital, so check UCLA's page for current hours. Kaiser members can call the after-hours advice line at 1-833-574-2273.

And for broken bones or concussions on the Westside, the CHLA Santa Monica Specialty Care Center (1419 19th St., Santa Monica; 310-820-8608) isn't urgent care, but it has a walk-in orthopedic clinic where same-day appointments may be available. Not sure where to go at all? CHLA's Symptom Checker helps you decide between your pediatrician, urgent care and the ER.

How to Choose a Pediatrician in LA

The "best pediatrician in Los Angeles" is the one you can reach at 2 a.m. and get to without crossing three freeways. Start with logistics, then philosophy.

  • Insurance first: Call your insurance company (or check its online directory) to confirm the doctor is in-network, then double-check with the office. Kaiser offices see Kaiser members only.

  • Hospital affiliation: Ask which hospitals the doctors have privileges at. This matters most for newborns, since your pediatrician may check on your baby before you leave the hospital.

  • Location and hours: Close to home or daycare? Any evening or weekend hours? A 10-minute drive beats a "perfect" doctor 45 minutes away when your toddler has croup.

  • After-hours access: Is there a 24/7 on-call doctor, a nurse line, or a virtual care option?

Questions to ask at a prenatal or meet-and-greet visit:

  • How quickly can we get a same-day sick appointment?

  • Who answers the phone after hours: a doctor, a nurse or an answering service?

  • Will we see the same doctor most of the time?

  • What is your vaccine policy?

  • Are there any annual or membership fees?

  • How do you handle messages and prescription refills (portal, phone or app)?

  • Do you offer telehealth visits?

  • Where do you refer for specialists, and is there a hospital you prefer?

Insider tip: schedule meet-and-greets in your second trimester or early third. Your future self, nine months pregnant and nesting, will thank you.

How to Verify a Pediatrician's License and Board Certification

It takes about five minutes and gives you real peace of mind.

The Well-Child Visit Schedule (What to Expect)

Well visits cover growth checks, vaccines and all those "is this normal?" questions. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics' HealthyChildren.org, here's the typical rhythm:

  • Newborn: A first-week visit at 3–5 days old.

  • Baby year: Visits at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 12 months.

  • Toddler years: Visits at 15 months, 18 months, 2 years and 2½ years.

  • Age 3 and up: One checkup every year through age 21.

For the full detail on what's checked at each age, see the AAP/Bright Futures periodicity schedule (updated February 2025). Insider tip: book next year's annual checkup before you leave the office, especially if you want a summer slot before school starts. Those go fast.

The Takeaway

The right pediatrician becomes part of your village, the calm voice on the phone when the thermometer reads 103 and the person who cheers when your baby finally rolls over. Start with what's close to home and covered by your insurance, ask good questions at a meet-and-greet, and take five minutes to verify the license and board certification.

Then save the after-hours numbers in your phone today, before you need them: CHLA Virtual Urgent Care at 833-245-2432, CHLA Arcadia Urgent Care at 626-795-7177, and your own pediatrician's on-call line. Details change, so always confirm hours and availability with the office directly. And if it's ever an emergency, skip the research and call 911.

As of October 2026, California Kids Pediatrics, Huntington Health Physicians in Pasadena and UCLA Health Manhattan Beach Pediatrics all say on their sites that they're accepting new patients. As of November 2026, Beverly Hills Pediatrics (both offices), Pediatric Care Physicians, Parkway Pediatrics, Lighthouse Pediatrics and Dr. Kim Ramirez-Chan & Associates in Torrance say the same. Your insurance company's directory is another good starting point.

When should I choose a pediatrician for my baby?

Most parents pick a pediatrician during pregnancy, ideally in the second or early third trimester. That leaves time for prenatal meet-and-greets, which several LA practices offer, and lets you give the hospital your pediatrician's name before delivery. Your baby's first visit usually happens at 3–5 days old.

Is there a pediatric urgent care open at night in Los Angeles?

Yes. CHLA Arcadia Urgent Care is open weekdays 4–11 p.m. and weekends 9–4, and Kids & Teens After-Hours Pediatric Urgent Care runs weeknights 6–11 p.m. and all day on weekends. CHLA Virtual Urgent Care offers evening and weekend video visits by appointment at 833-245-2432. For emergencies, call 911.

How can I check if my pediatrician is board certified?

Use the American Board of Pediatrics' free Verify Certification tool at abp.org. To confirm the doctor's California medical license is current and see any disciplinary history, use the Medical Board of California's license verification page, which links to the DCA License Search.

How often does my child need a well-child checkup?

Babies have frequent visits in the first two years: at 3–5 days, 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 months, then at 2 years and 2½ years. From age 3 on, kids need a checkup once a year through age 21, according to the AAP's HealthyChildren.org.
