How to Celebrate New Year's Eve 2021 in Los Angeles With Your Family Safely?

You probably can’t wait to put 2020 behind you! We can't either, and that is why we came up with a list of all the fun things you can do on New Year's Eve to celebrate the end of 2020, and the start of a new year! These events are COVID-safe, and are mostly drive-thru activities or virtual New Year's Eve events. We hope that 2021 would be the year that we put COVID behind us, and go back to normal!

New Year's Eve 2021 Drive-Thru Events:

Happy Place – The Drive Thru – Presented by Subaru

Happy Place is open on New Year's Eve with the last entry at 8:45 pm. This event is a great way to spend the last hours of 2020! It features 18 larger-than-life experiences and interactive moments. Some highlights include the world’s first giant piano you play with your car, a rainbow road, a pulsating nightclub for your car, and supersized sweets. Tickets are $69.50 on New Year's Eve.

Holiday Lights Cruise

Experience Newport Harbor in full holiday décor aboard one of decorated vessels on a holiday lights cruise on the New Year's Eve. View multi million dollar estates and vessels all decked out with thousands of lights. Departure times are 5:30 pm, 7:00 pm, and 8:30 pm, and roughly 75 minutes in length.

Electric Noel Drive-Thru New Year's Event

Discover the neon glow with Electric Noel, a New Year's drive-thru experience at Silver Lakes Equestrian and Sports Park! Electric Noel is a COVID-safe experience, which is open on New Year's Eve with the last entry at 9:30pm. Time-slotted tickets are available from December 3rd through January 3rd, and you only need one ticket per car. Tickets are $89 per vehicle.

Santa's Speedway Christmas Lights Drive-Thru Spectacular

This event is an all ages immersive drive-thru holiday lights experience–built in partnership with Mobile Illuminations. The experience is open on New Year's Eve with the last entry at 9pm. This event is full of holiday lighting displays, including the world’s largest free standing Christmas tree. There will also be fun, interactive scavenger hunt for the family to enjoy! Tickets are $59 per vehicle with 8 people max in your vehicle.

Night of Lights OC

Night of Lights is wonderland of lights consisting of one mile drive that includes over one million lights, including animated lights to music, lighting spectacular, plus a winter wonderland drive-thru. The Elf on The Shelf's Magical Holiday Journey

This holiday drive-thru features a dazzling light spectacle with toy repair workshop, gingerbread villages, and all the sights and sounds of the holiday blended with a touch of high-spirited fun that only Elves can deliver. The Elf on The Shelf's Magical Holiday Drive-Thru is open on New Year's Eve, with the last entry at 7pm. Tickets are $29.95 for adults and $24.95 for kids under 13.

South Coast Botanic Garden’s GLOW

GLOW is a visually stunning art installation that has transformed the lush botanic oasis into an oceanic experience for Garden Lights & Ocean Waters theme using thousands of lights. GLOW is opening on New Year's Eve with last entry at 8:30 pm. Tickets are $34.95 per person. Click here for details.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Drive-Thru Experience

Six Flags Magic Mountain's Drive-Thru Experience features millions of lights, festive holiday theme, and seasonal music favorites. The park has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland with millions of colorful lights, which will dazzle you by the wonderful sights from the comfort of your own car. This event is open on New Year's Eve with the last entry at 8:45 pm. Tickets start at $20 per person, with a minimum of two individuals per vehicle requirement.

Taste of Merry Farm at Knott's Berry Farm

Celebrate New Year's Eve with Knott's Taste of Merry Farm on December 31st. While the theme park remains closed, you can enjoy the park as Knott's wondrously transforms with enchanted décor, thousands of twinkling lights, miles of festive garland, and a variety of picturesque holiday settings, all serving as a backdrop to the tastiest holiday food around.

New Year's Eve At Raging Waters

Load up your family into your car and drive through acres of more than 1.5 million lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music you’ll hear right through your radio. You’ll drive by giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways and more. It’s like being immersed in another world. This event is open on New Year's Eve, with the last entry at 9:30 pm. Tickets are $35 per vehicle.

New Year's Eve 2021 Virtual Events:

N.Y.E.L.A Grand Park

Grand Park’s annual celebration will be live streamed via Fuse TV on December 31st. Tune in or log on starting Thursday, December 31, 2020, from 11:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m. PST / 2:00 a.m.–3:30 a.m. EST to January 1, 2021, to watch on Fuse, or stream on the Fuse YouTube channel, Grand Park’s digital channels and on The Music Center Offstage. The event’s signature midnight countdown takes Los Angeles County’s New Year’s Eve tradition to new heights as 3D animation graphics will highlight community, resiliency and Los Angeles as part of the annual digital countdown show designed by local innovation studio yU+co. This event is a virtual event and is free for all.

Noon Year’s Eve Celebration At Aquarium

The Aquarium of the Pacific is hosting a virtual Noon Year’s Eve celebration on December 31st from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Create a fish party hat, meet a live Ambassador Animal, and dance your way to the Noon Year’s countdown with the Pacific Pals puppets! Make sure to have your craft supplies ready to create the party hat for the festivities.Tickets are $5 and are available online.

Virtual NYE Balloon Drop Celebration

Party with Chabot Space & Science Center virtually as they countdown to 2021 at 12 p.m. EST Continuing a 20-year Bay Area tradition. The party will feature hundreds of colorful, bio-degradable balloons raining down from above! The event will include exciting STEM activities, a dance party, a family-friendly toast and the classic live balloon drop spectacle. Tickets are $20-$50.

Happy New Year, Charlie Brown

Join the Schulz Museum online for their annual New Year’s Eve festivities and spread the joy of celebrating together, no matter your location! Enjoy a virtual Noon-year’s eve celebration with Peanuts-themed crafts, special appearances by Snoopy and Woodstock, and a countdown to the Museum’s annual up-down balloon drop at Noon. Get ready to let down your hair and say good riddance to 2020. New Year's at the Needle

35th annual Japanese New Year Bell Ringing Ceremony

Join for the first ever virtual New Year Bell Ringing Ceremony by Asian Art Museum. Every holiday gathering this year is being reinvented, and this bell ringing promises to be different in some exciting ways. The program features prerecorded content filmed at Kojin-an and Tenpyozan, the chanting of the Heart Sutra, and the purifying 108 rings of a Buddhist temple bell, and a look behind the scenes of the preparation activities at Kojin-an. Cal Performances New Year’s Eve Musical Celebration

Nathalie Joachim hosts an evening live stream.
