2020 is the year that Christmas really needs saving, and thanks to Holiday drive-thru events and light shows, we will! This holiday season, buckle up because we will take you to all the drive-thru experiences that are happening in and near Los Angeles!
We will update this list as more Holiday and Christmas events, drive-thrus, and parades emerge.
Holiday Events, Drive-Thrus, and Light Displays in and near Los Angeles 2020-2021:
This holiday drive-thru event will feature a dazzling light spectacle with toy repair workshop, gingerbread villages, and all the sights and sounds of the holiday blended with a touch of high-spirited fun that only Santa's favorite Scout Elves can deliver.
South Coast Botanic Garden presents GLOW, a visually stunning art installation that will transform the lush botanic oasis into an oceanic experience for Garden Lights & Ocean Waters theme using thousands of lights. The walk is set to an artistically curated soundtrack featuring a little something for everyone, including original electropop created for GLOW by DJ Jerzy, as well as Baja surf music, Train and Vivaldi. GLOW takes place between November 21, 2020 and January 10, 2021. Tickets cost $34.95 per person for non-members and go on sale on November 6th.
Celebrate the holiday season with millions of lights and themed decor during a festive WonderLAnd drive-thru show. Experience the magic of an inclusive showcase of the most wonderful time of the year from the safety & comfort of your own vehicle. This Drive-Thru holiday event takes place between November 23rd through December 23rd, and from December 26th through December 30th. Tickets start at $60 per vehicle.
Candy Cane Lane is a group of homeowners at Lubao & Oxnard Streets in Woodland Hills who collectively decide each year to put on an amazing holiday display of lights and decorations. For over 60 years, these eight blocks have been blanketed in lights. The displays light up stars the second Saturday in December and last through the end of the year. This year, you can enjoy the beauty of the display lights in the safety of your own vehicle.
Drive through the neighborhood of upper Hasting Ranch and enjoy a festival of lights and parkway displays. This tradition began in1951 when a few Ranch families decorated their driveways with luminaria to guide Santa Claus. It continued when a homeowner created the first wooden parkway display and the competition was on! Join to see the themed streets and creative decorations. This event usually starts on December 12th each year, and is from 6pm through 10pm nightly.
Christmas Tree Lane
Catch Fresno’s seasonal tribute to the holidays known as Christmas Tree Lane. Drive through a 2-mile path to witness the dazzling light display of 140 residential homes located between Shields Avenue and Shaw Avenue. This event is free but donations are encouraged.
Two Rodeo Drive started creating a custom holiday 3-D light show last year for 12 days of Christmas. The show magically transforms Two Rodeo Drive into a winter wonderland. It precisely aligns dazzling lights and animation with a building’s architectural features to blend real and virtual worlds. This year, you can enjoy this light show from the safety of your own vehicle.
Watch beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes sail along the harbor in the 112th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. This year’s parade will be held Wednesday through Sunday, December 16-20, 2020.
For the first time in its 112-year history, the parade will be streamed to viewers, giving the world a front-row seat to the annual Southern California spectacular. The virtual viewing experience will take place on multiple platforms will run all five nights of the parade. The show will include the parade’s entirety, the Ring of Lights home competition, entertaining interviews with participants and spotlights on the Grand Marshal frontline heroes and local charities.
Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade 2020 with Newport Landing
Experience Newport Harbor in full holiday décor aboard one of the decorated vessels on a holiday lights cruise. View multi million dollar estates and vessels all decked out with thousands of lights. Holiday Cruises are happening between December 4, 2020 through January 3, 2020.
The 28th Annual Mission Inn Hotel & Spa Festival of Lights will commence on November 27, 2020 until January 6, 2021 and will feature a “Winter Wonderland” theme. This annual holiday event will include dazzling holiday lights on the front of the hotel, animated characters and much more. Lights will be on the exterior of the front of the hotel and you can enjoy the lights from the safety of your own vehicle if you are not a guest at the hotel! Walk-in reservations can also be made at entrances of the hotel and staff will be available to guide guests to restaurants and lounges.
From November 21, 2020 through January 10, 2021, visit Santa and his friends in the Northwoods, a Village with so many fun attractions that will make you feel like you have been transported to the North Pole itself. Santa's Village is only two hours drive from Los Angeles at SkyPark, and it is unlike anything you have experienced before. The Village this year is operating in limited capacity and reservations are required.
