Elf in Concert

Few holiday movies get families laughing like Elf, and this season the Hollywood comedy comes to life in a whole new way at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The full film plays on a giant screen while the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra performs John Debney's festive score live, perfectly in sync with the action.

Families follow Buddy, the oversized elf raised at the North Pole, as he heads to New York City in full elf gear to find his real dad. All the favorite scenes are there, from snowball fights to spaghetti with maple syrup, and hearing the music swell from a live orchestra adds extra sparkle to every moment. John Debney, the film's composer, is listed as conductor.

Part of the LA Phil's Deck the Hall holiday concert lineup, Elf in Concert is a fun way to introduce kids to a world-class concert hall without asking them to sit through a formal program. The show runs about one and a half to two hours, and children ages 2 and up are permitted, so plan around naps and snacks for younger fans. Plan to arrive about an hour early to park and settle in.
