Squad Harmonix was created in 2019 by Laura Saggers and is led by an energetic staff of professional musicians in Los Angeles. They offer online and in-person options for students to choose from. The main focus is teaching contemporary vocal performance and music education, with the reward of professionally-produced music videos/albums and captivating live performances.

Squad Harmonix is a branch of the Laura Jean Music Academy, where students can opt to take additional private voice, piano, guitar/ukulele, songwriting, music production, artist development, or music business lessons.

There are four different Squads available that cater to a range of abilities. From beginner to advanced there is a Squad for everyone:

  • Junior (ages 8-13, currently no audition),

  • Senior (ages 12-17, simple audition required),

  • Varsity (Ages 8-17, advanced audition required),

  • Virtual Squad (ages 8-17, no audition - for those living outside of Los Angeles. They currently have students in the UK, San Francisco, and Chile!).

Once kids pick their Squad, there are various optional add-ons students may choose to enrich their experience. These include a Box Music Video/Album Package, Online Recording Class, private beatboxing lessons, and online Music Ed (music theory and sight-reading).

Students are highly encouraged to add on a private Music Ed class to supplement their Squad training, as understanding the language of music makes students more well-rounded. Music Ed consists of materials such as scales, rhythm, symbols, sight-reading, etc., and meets weekly online via Zoom.

In-Person classes meet every Saturday at a park in Santa Monica. Here, the students are split up into their vocal sections, to learn harmonies, blending, choreography and audition for solos in preparation for the end-of-semester showcase.

Squad Harmonix also offers a lineup of fun and exciting summer camps!

The most popular camp is the Squad Harmonix Disneyland Voice Camp, where students train for a week learning a 30-minute set with a final performance at Disneyland. Sign up coming soon.

Masks are currently required for the in-person students. All rehearsals and performances will be outside.

Sqaud Harmonix's YouTube videos have accumulated over 700k views over the past 2 years and garnered the recognition of some of their favorite actors: Eugene Levy, John Krasinski, and Cynthia Erivo to name a few.

Their audition-required Varsity Squad has performed all over California, most recently at the LA Zoo Lights and the Westfield Century City Mall for their holiday events, and won 3 national awards last year.

You can register for classes online.
