Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is free to visit, no park ticket required, and it's packed with new places to eat and shop, from Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby and a two-story Earl of Sandwich to Din Tai Fung, a food hall, and treat carts kids will love. It opens at 7 AM daily and stays open late most nights.

It's our favorite way to get a Disney fix on a regular weeknight: live music on the lawn, churros in hand, and a peek in World of Disney without buying a park ticket. Here's everything families should know, from what's brand-new and where to eat on any budget to the free entertainment, holiday magic starting November 13, and how to park without overpaying.

What's New at Downtown Disney

The west end of the district has been reimagined with a sleek, mid-century modern look, and the new spots keep coming. These are the openings families are talking about.

Gordon Ramsay's newest restaurant opened July 13, 2026, with a swinging 1960s London theme, a roomy patio, and his signature dishes like beef Wellington, fish and chips, cottage pie, and sticky toffee pudding. There's even a prime rib cart that rolls right up to your table.

Parent Tip: It's a sit-down splurge, so save it for a celebration dinner and make a reservation ahead of time.

The two-story Earl of Sandwich flagship opened July 15, 2026, with The Carnaby upstairs. Expect hot sandwiches, a carving station for pastrami, soups, salads, breakfast items, cookies, and cinnamon rolls, which makes it an easy pick for picky eaters.

New Treat Carts: Big Boi Lumpia, Cathy's Cookies and Happy Ice

Three new carts are perfect for a quick snack between shops. Big Boi Lumpia serves savory and sweet Filipino spring rolls, Cathy's Cookies sells fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies by the dozen or the bucket (plus cookie dough to go), and Happy Ice scoops Philadelphia-style Italian ice.

Disney Wonderful World of Sweets candy shop at Downtown Disney

Disney Wonderful World of Sweets is a candy-lover's dream, with caramel apples, popcorn, and confections starring favorite characters. Avengers Reserve stocks comics and Super Hero collectibles, Disney Storyland Boutique rotates its themes with the seasons, and The D-Lander Shop carries fashion picks, including PANDORA.

Parents may want to peek into lululemon and Nectar Life, a bath and beauty shop with its first-ever customization bar.

Where to Eat at Downtown Disney With Kids

From grab-and-go carts to sit-down dinners with live jazz, Downtown Disney has a spot for every budget and every picky eater.

Downtown Disney's first food hall makes it easy when everyone wants something different. Choose from Parkside Market Coffee for lattes and breakfast, Seoul Sister for Korean-inspired bibimbap bowls, GG's Chicken Shop for chicken sandwiches and sides, and Vista Parkside Market for drinks with a view of the district.

This is the famous dumpling house's first freestanding restaurant, and kids love watching the chefs fold xiao long bao through the window of the dumpling kitchen. Dishes are served family-style for sharing, and takeout is available. It's open 10:30 AM to 11 PM on weekdays and 9:30 AM to 11 PM on weekends.

Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán runs three Mexican concepts in one spot: Paseo for an upscale sit-down meal, Céntrico for the same flavors in an open-air setting, and Tiendita for street food on the go.

Ballast Point Brewing Co. serves Southern California food with a rooftop patio, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes is known for over-the-top CrazyShakes, Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio brings New Orleans flavors and live jazz, and Naples Ristorante e Bar bakes Neapolitan pizza. At Splitsville Luxury Lanes, you can eat sushi, burgers, or pizza between frames of bowling.

Naples also hosts Breakfast with Santa during the holidays; see our guide to places to take photos with Santa near LA.

For snacks on the go, try Mickey-shaped beignets at Beignets Expressed, a CrazyShake from the Black Tap window, pizza at Napolini Pizzeria, ice cream at Salt & Straw, a corn dog from Blue Ribbon Corn Dog, churros at California Churro, macarons at Kayla's Cake, or a pretzel from the Wetzel's Pretzels flagship. Pop-up food trucks also roll in from time to time.

Parent Tip: Splitting a few snacks from different carts is a fun, budget-friendly way to "taste" Downtown Disney without a full sit-down meal.

Best Shops at Downtown Disney for Families

Even if you're just browsing, the shops are half the fun. These are the ones kids head to first.

Builders can browse the latest sets and admire the LEGO creations on display.

This is the largest selection of Disney merchandise at the resort, from plush and costumes to ear headbands and home goods. It's the place to pick up souvenirs without a park ticket.

Star Wars Trading Post, WonderGround Gallery (Disney-inspired art), Disney Home, Disney's Pin Traders, the Kawaii Slime cart, Lovepop pop-up cards, Pelé Soccer, Curl Surf, Sephora, PANDORA Jewelry, and Sunglass Hut round out the lineup. Kaman's Art Shoppes also draws caricatures right in the district.

Parent Tip: For a souvenir that costs pocket change, look for the pressed coin and collectible medallion machines.

Free Things to Do at Downtown Disney

You don't need to spend a dime to have a great evening here. Grab a spot on the grass and let the kids dance.

This outdoor stage hosts free live music most evenings, from Motown and rock to jazz, reggae, and seasonal acts, with a lawn where kids can play while you listen. Sets run about 40 minutes, and recent showtimes have been 5:30, 7, and 8:40 PM; check the Disneyland app or website for the day's schedule.

Window Shopping, Pin Trading and People-Watching

Watch master builders' creations at The LEGO Store, trade pins with fellow fans at Disney's Pin Traders, and catch trunk shows and artist showcases that pop up throughout the year. Splitsville's outdoor area, The Alley, often has interactive games and local musicians too.

Good to know: the Disneyland Monorail station is in Downtown Disney, but riding it requires valid Disneyland park admission.

Holidays at Downtown Disney 2026

Starting November 13, 2026, Downtown Disney turns into a winter wonderland with festive decor, a nightly "snowfall," seasonal food and drinks, and nightly holiday shows on the LIVE! Stage with holiday music, DJs, and bands for family dancing.

From November 11, 2026, to January 6, 2027, kids can also join Chip 'n' Dale's Ornament Trail: buy an activity map at a participating shop, hunt for the hidden ornaments, and trade in the completed map for a keepsake ornament (price TBA).

  • Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon: A steakhouse from Michelin-starred Chef Joe Isidori.

Downtown Disney Hours, Parking and Getting There

Hours

Downtown Disney District is open 7 AM to 1 AM daily, except Thursdays, when it closes at 11 PM. Shops and restaurants keep their own hours, so check the official Downtown Disney page before you go.

Downtown Disney parking (Simba Lot)

The Downtown Disney parking lot is off Disneyland Drive, between West Katella Avenue and the Pixar Place Hotel. The first hour is $10, each additional hour is $14 (charged in 30-minute increments, $7 minimum), and the daily maximum is $66. The lot can fill up on busy nights.

How parking validation works

  • Spend $20 or more at any Downtown Disney location to get 3 additional hours.

  • Dine at a Downtown Disney table-service restaurant to get up to 5 additional hours.

  • Hotel restaurants and lounges don't validate Downtown Disney parking.

Parent Tip: Keep your parking ticket with you and ask for validation when you pay. A sit-down dinner can cover most of an evening's parking.

Theme park parking and rideshare

Disneyland's theme park lots (Mickey & Friends, Pixar Pals, and Toy Story) charge a flat $40 for standard parking or $60 for preferred, and they're set up for park guests. For rideshare, follow Disneyland Drive to Magic Way, then turn left onto Downtown Drive and follow the signs; drivers get a 15-minute grace period.

Rules families should know

  • Expect a security screening when you enter the district.

  • Guests under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian from 10 PM to 5 AM.

  • Strollers wider than 31 inches or longer than 52 inches aren't allowed, and neither are wagons or stroller wagons.
