The Three Little Pigs and Other Tales

Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia brings its newest touring production to Pepperdine's Smothers Theatre, and it is a sweet fit for young audiences. The Three Little Pigs and Other Tales blends Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the Three Little Pigs and the Three Billy Goats Gruff into one fresh storybook journey told with the company's beautifully crafted puppets.

Instead of a big bad villain, the story follows a plucky raccoon and a quick-thinking mouse on a treasure hunt. As they travel, the pair quietly saves the goats, bears and pigs from trouble, creating a gentle, funny adventure that celebrates teamwork, friendship and bravery. The lack of truly scary moments makes it an ideal first theater outing for preschoolers.

Two weekend performances make it easy for families to fit a show into their Saturday plans, and a trip to the Malibu campus comes with sweeping ocean views as a bonus. The production is recommended for children ages 3 and up, so it is a great pick for preschool and early elementary kids.
