Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egypt is coming to Hollywood's backyard. Horizon of Khufu is a walk-around virtual reality expedition that takes families inside the Great Pyramid of Giza as it looked about 4,500 years ago, right on the Television City studio lot next to The Grove.

Wearing VR headsets, small groups move freely through the same shared virtual space. You'll wander corridors closed to the public, step into the Queen's Chamber, puzzle over hieroglyphs, and follow the funeral rites of Pharaoh Khufu, with a virtual guide leading the way.

The history is the real deal. The experience was built with Harvard Egyptologist Peter Der Manuelian and his Giza Project team, so tweens and teens who love mummies, pyramids, or video games get a story grounded in actual archaeology.

Plan on about 45 minutes in the headset and roughly an hour total, since guests pass through studio-lot entry and security first. Comfortable shoes are a must, glasses can stay on under the headset, and backpacks go in the free lockers.

👨🏻‍👩🏻‍👦🏻‍👦🏻 Age Requirement

Ages 10 and up, with a minimum height of 4'6". Children ages 10 and 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Kids under 10 cannot take part, even with a parent, because of headset size and safety.

Adults need a valid ID to enter the studio lot.

🍔 Food

Snacks, water, and select non-alcoholic drinks are sold on site. Payment is by card or Apple Pay only; no cash.

🚙 Parking

On-site parking is available for an additional fee. Rideshare drop-off is at the Fairfax Gate only, and bus stops are on Beverly Boulevard and at the Fairfax gate.
