Celebrate stories that move the heart and stir the soul at the Big Read Celebration – Puppet Show and Film Screening at Art in the Park! This creative, community-driven event is part of the National Endowment for the Arts' Big Read 2025, highlighting The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
The hour-long program features a whimsical puppet show titled “Wishes”, inspired by the companion book Carmela Full of Wishes by Matt de la Peña and illustrated by Christian Robinson—a gentle, heartfelt tale perfect for the youngest readers.
Stick around for a unique film screening that pairs original animations with songs about "Home," created by the Community Band, Latin Jazz Band, and musician Rafael Rafel Bustamante. It's a fusion of art, music, and literature that invites all ages to connect with themes of hope, family, and belonging.
