8th Annual Playa Vista Monster Dash 5k

Halloween meets fitness at the 8th Annual Playa Vista Monster Dash 5k, a festive fun run and walk that winds through the tree-lined streets of Playa Vista. Hosted by PVPAL and Elevation Health, this family-friendly race welcomes speedy runners, casual walkers and stroller-pushing parents alike, so nobody has to be a seasoned athlete to join in.

Costumes are a big part of the fun. Every registered participant can enter the costume contest for a shot at some great prizes, so expect to see superheroes, witches, dinosaurs and plenty of creative family group looks crossing the finish line. The course starts and ends on Bluff Creek Drive right beside the Randy Johnson Park soccer fields and tot lot playground, which makes it easy for little ones to burn off any leftover energy after the race.

Participants have a generous two-hour window to finish, so families can take it at whatever pace works for short legs. The organizers even offer a free Couch to 5K training plan with beginner, intermediate and advanced options for anyone who wants to get ready in the weeks before race day.

A few practical notes for parents: kids 15 and under must stay with an adult at all times, pets are not allowed on the course, and the race happens rain or shine. Grab your bib early at packet pickup to make race morning a little calmer.

All ages can take part in the 5K.

Kids and youth 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
