- 6 Kids Friendly Activities To Do in Los Angeles For Tourists! When you live in a big city, you can easily take a short flight to Los Angeles, where many famous kids’ destinations are available. Once you set out for a tour with your kids in Los Angeles, you may feel overwhelmed with variety of available places. Instead of visiting places that are cliché, indulge your kids in fun activities so that they can enjoy themselves to the fullest. In this article, I will navigate you through 6 places that you can visit in a single short flight to Los Angeles. What is the best mode of travel? The places that I am going to suggest are on the outskirts of Los Angeles, so I highly suggest a short flight to get there through LAX. According to businessclassexperts.com, it is easy to navigate short trips to children’s favorite destinations in and around Los Angeles, and if you’re traveling during the summer season, you wouldn’t want to put your kids on the road in a car in the scorching heat of the sun. 6 kid-friendly activities and places to visit: 1. Disneyland and Disney California Adventure If you are visiting Los Angeles for the first time with your kids, you cannot overlook Disneyland. Summer season is the best time to visit Disneyland because of the cool water rides around the little Mermaid theme. Your kids are surely going to have a great experience when you go there with them. 2. Children’s Museum at La Habra The intriguing point about this museum is that it has been specially designed for kids, and is not as crowded as the conventional museums are. It has a small carousel, electric trains and a room where kids can play. The museum also has an “on stage” exhibition where kids can have fun and try different costumes. The interesting thing is that every room has fun activities where children can spend hours easily. 3. California Science Center If you intend to spend half of the day at a very interesting place for your kids, the California science center is the ultimate stop. There are plenty of things for kids to see and do. It is located within the Exposition Park. The interesting thing about it is that there are many discovery rooms where kids can play and learn a lot of science facts. You will also get a chance to see and play around with hurricane simulator. The most important eye-catching place in the Science Center is where Space Shuttle Endeavour is incorporated. There you can make your kids learn about space. 4. Griffith Park Child-friendly attractions grab the eyeballs of the little munchkins fast. If you want all of those attractions in one place, Griffith Park is the ultimate place to get all things in one place. There are major three attractions in the park. The first one is Griffith Observatory where your kids can learn about astronomy and see various science exhibits. Second is the Los Angeles Zoo where your children will get an opportunity to learn about more than 1100 mammals. The third one is Travel Town, where kids can enjoy some fun time in miniature trains. 5. Descanso Gardens Descanso Gardens is an urban retreat of year-round natural beauty with spectacular seasonal horticultural displays. There's always something to see at Descanso Gardens. Whether you love lots of colorful spring bloom, winter camellias or the year-round majesty of our oaks, check out what's in bloom at different times of the year. Allow your kids to play around with nature and let them be themselves for some time. If you keep your kids accustomed to playing and having fun in a self-created world, they will always crave for more. 6. Universal Studios Hollywood Are your kids obsessed with cartoon characters? If yes, you cannot escape Universal Studios. This Hollywood park is not as big as Orlando, so your trip will easily get completed in a day. There are many rides, and entertaining shows that kids will certainly enjoy. Don’t forget to take the backlot tour that takes you behind the scenes. After enjoying a great time in the park, you can have a nice family dinner at Universal City Walk. Lastly, make sure that you enjoy the trip to the fullest with your kids. There are many more places around Los Angeles to visit with your little ones. Head on to the home page for more ideas! - How to Cut Back on Screen Time! It’s tempting, especially during the summer, to let kids watch a lot of television and stare at their screens. As you get ready to go back to school, start to put limits on screen time if you haven’t done so during the summer, suggests greatschool.org. 1. Be firm. Set limits of no more than an hour or two of TV daily, suggests the American Academy of Pediatrics. 2. Set a good example by not watching a lot of TV yourself. Engage in family activities such as reading or board games. 3. Keep TVs out of your child’s bedroom to limit the temptation. 4. Encourage selective TV viewing. Discourage channel surfing which encourages passive viewing. 5. Replace screen time with outdoor time. Research shows that outdoor time is healthy for kids' minds and bodies. 6. Find educational kid-friendly programs to replace with unproductive programs. Credit: GreatSchools Staff
- Seven Great Tips For Getting into The Back to School Routine!Getting back into the school routine can be a challenge for everyone in the family. To make adjusting to the new routine easier, start early and ease into it, professionals suggest. A new school year means a new routine. Get your child’s mind and body prepared for the big shift. Here are seven great ideas from professionals to help you get into the back to school routine: 1. A few weeks before school starts, move bedtime back to an earlier time 10 to 15 minutes every night. By the time it is time to go back to school, your kids should be able to get back to a healthy bedtime no later than 8:30 pm. 2. As the first day of school approaches, make meal times more regular and aligned with the school year schedule. 3. Put a positive spin on going back to school. Talk about the fun things your child will be learning, the old friends he’ll see, and the new friends he’ll make. 4. If your child is anxious about starting the next grade, reassure her that other children have these feelings too. Also check out back to school books from your public library and read together to help your child with her anxiety. For book suggestions, click here. 5. Don’t make plans for big trips right before the start of school. 6. Establish weekday schedules for homework, TV, bath, and bedtime. 7. Arrange play-dates with friends from school to re-establish connections that may have been dropped for the summer, or to create new ones.
- The Food At This Century City Restaurant Will Get You Hooked! If you like chicken, you would love The Crack Shack. Even if you don't like chicken, you would still love The Crack Shack. Why? Because their chicken is not your average chicken. In fact, I bet you've never had chicken this fresh and tasty in your entire life, and if you keep reading, I will tell you exactly why. I was looking for a new family friendly restaurant last week, when I came across The Crack Shack, and as I went through their menu, and the photos of their sandwiches on Instagram, I said to myself, I've got to get myself some of this chicken "now"! And If you go to their Instagram page, you'll know exactly what I am talking about. The pictures gave me a strong craving for their food. And last week I had the pleasure of trying their food, and I have to confess, their food in reality is even better than what you see in the pictures! The Chef probably has golden fingers to make a chicken taste so delicious. I understand that their chicken is not your average chicken, but it is still just a chicken. But maybe the chickens have gone to heaven, came back to earth, and landed in their kitchen, and that is why they are so heavenly! But in reality, the combination of their free range chickens, highest quality ingredients, their secret marinades, and their intense love of all things chicken is why The Crack Shack's food is out of this world! I tried the G-Bird Sandwich with grilled chicken breast among other things, and If you know me, you would know that I have a very delicate pallet, and worse then me is my 7 year old son. But as soon as the food hit the table, I, my son, and my husband looked at each other, and as soon as we had our first bites, we all knew we've found a new favorite that we can come back again and gain as a family for more deliciousness. Sandwiches and salads range from $8 to $13, family-size portions of fried chicken are $15 for 5 pieces, or $29 for 10 pieces. Kid’s Meal choices are nuggets, grilled chix, or grilled cheese with choice of carrots or petite fries, plus juice box and cookie. My son tried the nuggets, and they were exceptionally fresh and soft. As for the space, expect lots of sunlight, a ton of wood, a high ceiling with a beautiful decor, and an expansive & interactive outdoor patio. You don't need a reservation at The Crack Shack; just walk in and they will make sure you get seated promptly. The Crack Shack in Century City is located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA in Westfield Mall across from Nordstrom. They are open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 am to 9 pm, and Friday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 10 pm. Parking is free for the first hour at the Westfiled Mall, but if you download Westfield Mall's app, you get your first parking fee for free (for a limited time), no matter how long you stay at the restaurant or the mall. I also have to mention that The Crack Shack offers catering. So if you want to impress your guests next time for a birthday party, holiday party, or any special occasion, The Crack Shack has got your back. All party packages come with custom sauces and 2 sides of your choice, and napkins and plastic cutlery are included. For more information about The Crack Shack, and the full menu, please visit their official website. - Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story At Wallis Annenberg!Felder has given more than 5,000 performances over the last two decades, portraying the likes of Beethoven, Gershwin and Tchaikovsky. He now returns to Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, with his sights on the work of French impressionist composer Claude Debussy and the city of light, in Hershy Felder: A Paris Love Story, mixing the story of Debussy's life with his own personal Parisian history. The most compelling reason to see this show is that Felder was genuinely influenced by the character that he is portraying, in part by his mother's love of Debussy's music. This allows Felder to incorporate his personal experience of trying to "find Debussy", with the life of the composer, which set the stage for the performance. From the sweeping La mer to the evocative Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune and the mystical Clair de lune, the celebrated composer created music of ravishing beauty, color, and compassion. Felder, in character, doesn't just proclaim the brilliance of Debussy, but breaks down the structure of the chords illustrating what set Debussy apart. This show leaves little doubt that if not the keystone that bridges classical music to modern music, Debussy is where you want to start looking to find that link. Critics have described Felder in this production as "phenomenal ... exceeds expectations by incorporating his great gift of storytelling, historical knowledge of virtuoso piano playing with a deep, loving personal connection to Debussy" (Broadway World) "Hershey Felder's return to The Wallis for his portrayal of a man who was among the most influential composers of the lat 19th and early 20th centries has been enthusiastically anticipated by our audiences since he announced his production last year on our stage," says the Wallis' Artistic Director Paul Crewes. "We are fortunate to enjoy a long-term partnership with Hershey and his associates." Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story features beautiful scenic design, lighting and projection, which, combined with the music and story telling of talented Hershey Felder, takes you to the heart of Paris! Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story will be playing at Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts from May 24, 2019 through June 16, 2019. Tickets are $35 to $105, and are available at TheWallis.org/Debussy. The Wallis Annenbeg Center for the Performing Arts is located at 9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills. To purchase tickets and for more information, please contact 310-746-4000 or visit TheWallis.org/Debussy. We highly recommend Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story for a date night, and for children 12 years and up. #HershyFelder #Debussy

- The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane Is A Must See With Your Family! If you ever loved someone or even something, felt the joy of loving, the anguish of loosing it, and finding courage to love again, you would definitely want to see The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane! On the surface, the story is about a toy rabbit as it travels through the lives of different people who possess it. What you realize as you're watching the show is how much this is a reflection of our lives. Where the world is very much outside of you when you're young, and how through your development the world becomes a part of you. In the beginning, the rabbit brings joy to those around it. It supplements what's missing in the people's lives it touches as it moves through time, all the while, rather focused on its own appearance and needs. What is learned by the rabbit after the rigor of time has taken its own toll on it, is ultimately the value of how it's having been there for those people had truly mattered. For those it had comforted and loved. A beautiful story, many of us have lived in our own way, often makes a line straight to the heart, and reminds us that the journey is half of the gift of life. "What is so powerful and moving is that we see firsthand what happens -- the consequences -- when someone is unable to love, or even to grasp the concept," says director Debbie Devine. "Edward finally learns -- but only through hardship, pain and heartbreak...." I highly recommend taking your kids (7+) to learn a very valuable lesson about love. The performers are extremely talented, and the story, even though is very deep, is very engaging for both kids and adults. The performances of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane take place from April 6, 2019 through May 19, 2019 on Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm, at 24th Street Theatre. 24th Street Theatre is a multiple award-winning professional theater company with a unique connection to its local inner-city community. Tickets to all performances are $24 for adults, $10 for kids under 16, and $15 for students, seniors and teachers. 24th Street Theatre is located at 1117 West 24th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90007. Secure parking is available for $5 in the lot on the southwest corner of 24th and Hoover. The theater is air-conditioned and wheelchair accessible. For reservation and information, call (213) 746-6516 or go to www.24thstreet.org. Disclaimer: I was invited to The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane for review purposes. All opinions are my own. - Adventure City: The Little Theme Park That Is Big On Family Fun!With 17 rides, shows, and attractions, Adventure City, in Orange County, is an affordable alternative to other Southern California theme parks. This hidden amusement park is a must go to for families with kids of all ages. And the best thing about it is that you get to go on the rides as many times as you want, and you don't even have to stand in long crazy lines. The park is small enough that you get to ride all the rides in one day and enjoy them one by one, but big enough to have all the rides that your kids would love to enjoy at an amusement park. From little rides like "Rescue Ride" for little ones to a "Freeway Coaster" for the older kids, Adventure City has covered kids of all ages. You can take your 3 year old to the park along with your 13 year old knowing that they will both have a blast. One thing I really liked about this park, as a parent, was that I didn't have to stress about missing a ride or trying to figure out what to do next. By the end of the day, you get to enjoy the entire park at your own pace. And since you don't have to pay for each ride separately, you get to relax and spoil your kids to unlimited rides! Another thing that I really liked about Adventure City was that there are umbrellas and benches next to most rides making it easy to wait for your kids to enjoy their rides, while you sit in the shade. Here is the list of the rides and attractions: Rides Balloon Race - Spinning balloon ride. Barnstormer Planes - Spinning airplane ride. Drop Zone - A drop tower ride. Freeway Coaster - The park's first roller coaster. It was built around a giant pepper tree which existed on the site before the park was built. Adventure City Express Train - A 14 in gauge ride-able miniature train ride. Crazy Bus - A bus-themed flat ride. Crack 'n' Roll - On this unique mini-train, every child gets to be the engineer. The fun part is that "Kid power" makes it go! Carousel - A vintage 1946 carousel featuring 20 horse figures. Giggle Wheel - A mini Ferris wheel. Rewind Racers - A unique family shuttle coaster. A first of its kind in North America. Rescue Ride - 6 individual rescue vehicles that travel around a serpentine track.
