- How To Organize A Car Parade Graduation Celebration!
As of May 21, 2020, Car Parades are allowed in Los Angeles County for celebration of graduations, birthdays, and other special occasions. Since the class of 2020 didn't get a chance to celebrate their graduation this year like all other years, here is their chance to have an unforgettable graduation car parade. School districts can put together car parade graduation ceremonies if they present a plan that allows for safety protocols, and physical distancing. The parade must take place in an outside location large enough to accommodate the social distancing requirements. Sales or exchanges of any items or food are not allowed. Her are other rules that need to be followed for a car parade: Arrange for and provide security sufficient to ensure compliance with the State’s Order and address any traffic and safety issues. Develop a parade plan that deals with State’s Order, traffic and safety issues, parade participants, and social distancing requirements. Ensure participants and personnel adhere to the face covering and physical distancing requirements. Provide a significant document to one vehicle parade participant at a time, such as a diploma or other paper, while adhering to face covering and social distancing requirements. - Domestic Violence and Divorce: How to Tell Your Kids
Domestic violence is terrible, and divorce can be a nightmare. When children are involved, it makes everything so much worse. It is crucial to have an honest conversation with your children when you and your partner are divorcing over issues of domestic violence. Failing to address the problem can result in very poor consequences. If you believe your child is unaware of the abuse, you are most likely mistaken. Your Kids Know More Than You Think If you are getting a divorce because your partner has been abusive, your child is most likely aware of the problem. Kids are far more perceptive than most adults give them credit for. While many victims of domestic violence know that their kids are aware of the problem, there are plenty of others who believe that they have no idea. Addressing the issue of domestic violence with your children can be very difficult, but it is also essential. Your children may be aware of the abuse, but they likely only have part of the picture. It is critical that you have an open and honest discussion with your children. The issue needs to be addressed, and they need to be able to get all of their questions answered. In many cases, left to their own imaginations, children will fill in the blanks with even worse ideas than reality. When you begin the discussion, you should ask your child what they have seen or heard to discover the extent of their knowledge of the violence. Doing so can help you to figure out what they need to hear about while avoiding going too in-depth into things of which they are already well aware. It is also vital to discuss the abuse during a divorce because even if your children don't know, they are likely to find out during divorce proceedings. Your child will be especially exposed if you are fighting your spouse for custody. The effects of domestic violence on child custody can be profound. It is much better for your children to hear about the violence from you, in an open conversation, than from a lawyer in a courtroom. Experiencing that type of shocking revelation in a public environment can only harm your child. They need a personal one-on-one conversation where you can put everything into context, and they can feel safe. Know Your Audience When you are talking to your children about domestic violence, it is important to discuss the topic in a way that is appropriate for your child's age group. You want to use words that they can understand and be careful to ensure that they are not taking on a burden that they are not ready for at their age. While hearing that a parent has been violent towards another parent is too much at any age, kids are resilient. They can handle many difficult things, but they do have a breaking point. You want your child to be aware of the issue without making them feel like it is something that they need to be concerned about themselves. Be Sure Your Child Knows They Can Always Ask Questions It is vital that your child knows that the lines of communication run both ways. They should feel comfortable asking you any questions they may have. There is a good chance that many of the things they want to know do not match with the questions that you would expect from them. If your child has a question that you are not ready to answer or don't know how to answer, it is perfectly acceptable to tell them that you need to think about the question. You can tell them that you will get back to them with an answer in another discussion soon. Stay Calm When talking to your kids about violence, try to find a time where you feel that you can be largely in control of your emotions. Avoiding getting too worked up can help your children to feel like you have things under control and can help to put them at ease. Make Sure Your Child Knows That They Are Safe You need to make sure your child feels safe and like you are going to be safe now as well. Having fear for their own safety can be a devastating way for a child to live. Fearing for the security of their parents can put an undue burden upon them. It can make them feel like they need to protect you when the job is really the other way around. Be Mindful of When Your Child Needs to Stop While it is important to talk to your children about domestic violence, you do not want to do so for too long. The topic is an uncomfortable one. Though your child may have many questions at the beginning of the conversation, it is likely that they will reach a point where they have heard enough. When they stop asking questions and start portraying clear signs of restlessness, it is best to end the conversation. You want your child to be informed but not traumatized. If you feel there is more that needs to be said, you can always redress the issue at a later date. For now, though, it is best to switch gears and get your child thinking about other things. Have Your Own Support System Getting past domestic violence and moving on with your life after divorce can be very challenging. While you and your children will support each other through this time, it is critical that you carry the bulk of the burden. You want your kids to hold onto their childhood. In order to get through things without overburdening your children, you need to have your own support system of other adults. Friends, family, fellow abuse victims, and counselors can all help make up a positive support system that can help you move forward. They can also help give you the strength you need to be there for your children through this difficult time. Disclaimer: This article is a paid article.
- 5 Ways a Car Accident Can Impact Your Family
A car accident can cause sudden and violent changes to your family, leaving scars that last for years. Many of these may never fully heal. Your finances, as well as physical and mental health, could suffer in the immediate aftermath of an accident, making it important to seek out compensation as soon as possible. Find out how a car accident can change the lives of your family members to give yourself the best chance to recover from one. Physical Injuries and Deaths The most drastic changes that a car accident can cause your families are physical injuries and even deaths. Injuries can range from minor scrapes and bumps to severe, permanent, and debilitating injuries that negatively impact the quality of life of those impacted. Family members who died in an accident can leave a permanent void in the lives of survivors and be a source of constant pain and suffering. Some injuries can only show up after a considerable period of time from the point when the actual accident occurred. High Medical Costs Car crashes can also bring a substantial financial burden to families who are impacted by them. They may face high medical bills to cover the following immediate and long-term treatments: ● Hospital stay ● Surgery ● Rehabilitation ● Medications ● Therapists ● Physical aids (walkers, wheelchairs, specially-designed vehicles) ● And more Your family could face financial burdens that far exceed their ability to pay after an accident. However, that’s no reason to avoid treatment or worry about your financial future in this regard, as you are likely entitled to substantial compensation. A personal injury lawyer in Greenville can help your family recoup these costs so you can focus on making a recovery without worrying about the cost to do so. Loss of The Vehicle In many car accidents, the vehicles involved require substantial repairs or are totaled and sent to the junkyard. This can impose great hardship on your family, especially if they relied on the car as their sole means of transportation. In many cases, you’ll be able to obtain a rental car from your insurance company after an accident, but this can take a few days to process. In other cases, you may have trouble obtaining any financial assistance, especially if you or the other driver lack insurance. Lost Wages After an accident, you could face substantial lost wages due to time your working family members are missing from their jobs. In severe accidents, one or more members of your family may also have to switch careers, which can impose high costs in the near and long-term. The good news is that should you pursue a lawsuit or settlement with the responsible party, you can recoup some or all of your lost wages. Lower Credit Rating A car accident can be financially ruinous not just due to the high immediate costs it imposes but also because it can destroy a family’s credit. If your medical bills are too high, you may have trouble paying them, causing the bills to be sent to collections. This can lead to a vicious cycle where you face higher interest rates when you do need to borrow or simply can’t access capital to make higher-ticker purchases, such as a new vehicle or a house. This makes it vital to seek out professional legal assistance to fight for your rights and the compensation to which you and your family are entitled after an accident. Inability To Perform Daily Activities Having been left without a family vehicle can impact not only the healthy development of your career but other daily activities that can turn out to be vital for you and your family. Apart from the obvious impediment in getting to and back from work, not being able to access mundane services will surely take its toll on a family’s well-being. Being accommodated with the possibility to reach certain destinations in a particular period of time can keep one away from reconsidering the original plan. For example, knowing how fast and through which means of transport you can reach the closest medical facility is imperative. When the family vehicle is eliminated from the equation, a new emergency plan has to be put in place. Depending on an individual’s living area, being able to access all these emergency services can become very demanding or, in some cases, impossible. In the present context, the pandemic can really affect the health of the entire family. Having the possibility to move around in a personal car reduces social contact and really lowers the chances of getting infected through a crowded place. Being forced to travel by bus, train, or subway when this didn’t use to be a practice required by your daily activities, is nothing further from just a very unfair position. Reaching out to certain family members that require special care will have to suffer if there is a travel distance involved. Consequently, families that lost their vehicle will probably have to resort to solutions such as borrowing a car from close friends or having to spend money on renting a vehicle for at least short-term emergencies and necessities. Bottom Line A car accident can happen out of nowhere and cause lifelong changes to your family. Knowing what to expect from one can help you move from the shock of one to protect your rights and financial future when you’re most vulnerable to losing them. With this knowledge and the assistance of a personal injury lawyer, you’ll be in the best position possible to recover to the greatest extent possible. The final advice is to never choose to go through this battle on your own, and always seek the professional advice of a specialized lawyer. By choosing to do so, the process will become less demanding for you and your family, both in terms of time spent dealing with the case and the overall stress that one may accumulate through battling a case on his own. - What You Need to Know About Food Poisoning on Cruise Ships
Food poisoning can also be caused by under-cooked food and food workers not washing their hands. This can lead to the spread of viruses and bacteria like salmonella and E. coli. These pathogens can cause symptoms that include vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Once this happens to you, you can kiss those offshore excursions goodbye. Nothing will ruin your vacation faster than food poisoning. The excitement and adventure of a cruise will all go out the window if you eat bad food. Before you set sail on your next cruise, read this article to stay safe. Understanding the Source of Food-borne Illnesses Cruises ships have a problem with food poisoning because of the close-quarter dining at the buffets. Because of the large quantities of food and the self-serve environment, you have many people touching the food. This can lead to more cases of food poisoning because illnesses like norovirus can spread quickly. When Can You File a Lawsuit? If you get food poisoning while you’re on a cruise, a lawyer can help with your personal injury case. Attorneys look for acts of negligence that led to your food poisoning. They will tell you what needs to be done in order to successfully settle your case. Even if you got sick, you must prove certain elements in order to file a lawsuit. You have to prove that the cruise ship didn't exercise enough caution with the food, and that this led to you getting sick. If you caught the flu while on the cruise ship, you most likely couldn't file a lawsuit because sickness happens everywhere. Collecting Evidence of Negligence Unless you caught Legionnaires disease while on the cruise ship, you may have a difficult time proving negligence. You would need a mass outbreak of food poisoning on the cruise ship to prove negligence on the part of the ship. The burden of proof in a lawsuit rests on the plaintiff. If you were sickened on a cruise ship, you may want to pay special attention to things like: ● Were the ship’s medical facilities filled with people? ● Did the crew seem to be taking extra precautions, such as cleaning the bathrooms and not allowing self-serve? ● How many others caught food poisoning? ● Were any passengers quarantined? ● Did the cruise ship deviate from its itinerary? Any of these things could serve as evidence that things may have gone awry. If you wind up in the hospital of the cruise ship, ask the nurses and doctors if others have wound up there for the same reason. In many cases, they won't answer, but getting a straight answer could make your lawsuit easier. Beware of the Statute of Limitations You must file a lawsuit soon after the sickness as well. The laws regarding cruise ships are different than your standard personal injury laws, so you may want to get a lawyer to help you understand your rights. Most cruise ship companies have a notice requirement. This is typically written into the legal language on your ticket. If you want to file a lawsuit against them, you will have to notify them of it within a couple of months after the cruise. That leaves you a narrow window of opportunity. Before you ever hop on a cruise ship, you may want to examine your medical coverage. Does your health insurance cover you abroad? If they don't, you may want to purchase international coverage to help with the costs. Not only does this cover you for food poisoning, but it covers you for other accidents where you may have to be airlifted out over a medical emergency. - Newsom: Reopening California Will Begin This Week!
Today Governor Gavin Newsom announced that some stores across the state can reopen with modifications as early as Friday, May 8th just in time for Mother's Day! “We are entering into the next phase this week,” Newsom said at his Monday news conference. “This is a very positive sign and it’s happened only for one reason: The data says it can happen.” Bookstores, music stores, clothing stores, toy stores, florists, sporting goods retailers, and others can reopen for pickup, and manufacturing and logistics can resume in the retail supply chain. Newsom said more detailed guidelines on the businesses that can resume limited operations would be released later this week. Office buildings, shopping malls and restaurant dining rooms will not be reopened Friday, but later on in Stage 2. The move to Stage 2 of the state’s reopening plan, which is set to begin Friday, will ultimately allow more businesses deemed to be at lower risk of spreading the virus to open in communities across California. The Newsom administration has said Stage 3 would begin in “months” and include the opening of hair salons, gyms, sports competitions in empty stadiums and religious services. The final stage would mark the end of the stay-at-home order and all restrictions, allowing people to return to concerts and sporting events, which the governor has noted is unlikely to occur until a vaccine becomes widely available.

- Stay At Home Orders Will Continue For the Next Three Months in LA County!
Barbara Ferrer, County Public Health Director, announced today that Los Angeles County’s stay-at-home orders will “with all certainty” be extended for the next three months, despite the fact that the county has already started to ease some restrictions and reopen the local economy under a five-step plan. Ferrer’s comments came shortly before Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that he was modifying the state’s stay-at-home orders to allow individual counties to approve the reopening of malls for curbside pickup service only. The order also allows for the reopening of some offices if teleworking is not feasible. "Until the final stage five is reached, Health Officer Orders and directives will continue to ensure the slow of spread of COVID-19 to prevent an overwhelming surge of COVID-19 cases at healthcare facilities", said officials. The update to L.A.'s stay-at-home orders comes as officials try to meet two needs: restarting the economy under a new normal while also ensuring that the resurgence in activity doesn’t upend progress in the fight against the coronavirus. Ferrer said that timeline would shorten only if there was a “dramatic change to the virus and tools at hand.” “It’s safer to stay at home. COVID-19 has not changed,” Ferrer reminded residents on Monday.
