The eight-day Jewish celebration known as Hanukkah or Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Hanukkah, which means “dedication” in Hebrew, and is usually called the Festival of Lights is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts.

Chanukah this year is from December 10, 2020 through December 18, 2020. Here is a full list of all Chanukah events in and around Los Angeles for families and kids to enjoy.

This fun drive-thru experience is taking place from December 9th through December 13th, and is $99 per vehicle.

Chabad of Santa Monica is celebrating Chanukah on the Third Street Promenade. You can enjoy the nightly lighting of the menorah each evening, from December 10th through December 18th at sundown.

Join the Santa Monica Pier on December 13th at 4:30 pm for a unique menorah lighting at the western most point of mainland USA!

Chanukah Silent Disco

The Open Temple in Venice invites you to its outdoor Chanukah Silent Disco happening on December 12th at 4:00 pm. This event is family-friendly and features a menorah lighting, silent disco, dreidels, and more. This event is free but you need to register online in advance.

Join Chabad of Santa Monica on December 15th at 7pm from the safety of your home for celebration, Menorah lighting, Dreidel Game, and more.

Skirball Virtual Chanukah Celebration

The Skirball invites you to celebrate Chanukah on December 13th at 3:00 pm from the comfort of your own home. This virtual event features a heartwarming community candle lighting and a lively sing-along to get you feeling festive. Enjoy musical performances, a puppetry performance telling the Hanukkah story, and more. This event is free but you need to RSVP online in advance.

BLVD Kids: Let’s Make Hanukkah Cookies

Participate in a special online Hanukkah-themed cooking class on Saturday, December 12th from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Children are invited to celebrate the festival of lights by making Hanukkah Cookies online! Participation free is $20, and you need to reserve your spot online.
