The Original Farmer's Market

Make the most of LA’s warm summer nights by enjoying live music every week at the Farmers Market. Open and free to the public, the West Patio will come alive every Friday night to feature a range of musical genres from jazz to salsa, rock & roll to reggae and much more. (Free)

The Eagle Rock Branch Library hosts Dodgers Storytime this Friday. Enjoy a special story time with a special guest from Los Angeles Dodgers!

The family-friendly Shark Tale will be shown “on the sand, by the waves, and under the stars.” Don’t forget to bring blankets for when the temperature cools. Seating is first-come, first-served. Food trucks will be on site. The movie starts at 8:00 pm. Register online. (Free)


Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens

Join the herd” at a fun-filled weekend in celebration of World Elephant Day, where you’ll learn amazing facts about these magnificent animals and explore various ways that the Zoo and others are working to safeguard elephants in the wild.


The weekend will feature a toy elephant “Check-Up Station,” where volunteers will “examine” stuffed animals and issue certificates of health. So, before your visit, encourage your kids to pick a favorite cuddly elephant friend (or any other animal) to bring to the Zoo. Adorable plushes will also be available for purchase at the Zoo.

Have fun at Malibu Country Mart’s Annual Summer Block Party this Saturday. This event features lots of fun activities for kids of all ages including face painting, a petting zoo, hair-braiding station, a caricature artist, sweet treats, a steel drum trio, and much more. (Free)

Big Band meets Dixieland in the California Feetwarmers, a boisterous eight-piece ensemble who pay homage to New Orleans music of the ’20s. Known for their lively stage shows, the California Feetwarmers released their first, self-titled album in 2013.


With guest appearances by Phil Alvin of the Blasters and Andy Bean of the Two Man Gentlemen Band, the album features a joyous blend of trad jazz, blues, and rags. The California Feetwarmers also accompanied Keb Mo’ on the 2014 Grammy Award–nominated single “The Old Me Better.

Celebrate DOGust, the universal birthday of shelter dogs, this Saturday at Wallis Annenberg PetSpace. Bring your family and pups to a birthday bash, where every dog is the guest of honor! This event will feature fun activities and complimentary delicious treats for the whole family, including your canine companions.


Bruno, from the Emmy-nominated Netflix show "It's Bruno!" will be leading the party pups to celebrate birthdays and putting guests to the test in the #ItsBrunoChallenge for fun prizes. To help make this day extra special, Annenberg PetSpace is asking guests to donate supplies to dogs in the care of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC). Like any fun birthday party, be sure to RSVP in advance to attend!


Natsumatsuri Family Festival Japanese American National Museum
