The Autry National Center

This weekend, learn how to pan for gold, just like how the 49ers did during the California gold rush at the Autry National Center! Please check with the museum before you go. Gold panning may be cancelled on certain days due to weather conditions such as rain. If gold panning is closed, alternative family-friendly activities are available inside the museum.

Orange Empire Railway Museum

Take the family to Orange Empire Railway Museum this weekend for a fun and fascinating day. Activities at Behind the Scenes will feature tours and special equipment operations. Visit Ruffulo Carhouse 7, a restoration shed filled with trains and trolleys that is not usually open to the public. Get special access to the pit where you can go underneath a street car and see how it works. For an additional fee, get behind the throttle, and run a real locomotive.

Admission includes unlimited rides on other classic passenger trains and streetcars of Southern California’s railroad past. Admission is $12 for ages 12 and up, $8 for children ages 5 to 11, and children ages 4 and under are free. Tickets available at the Box Office on the day of the event.

Show Up, Kids! Interactive Family Comedy

This entirely unique, improvised, family show for kids 3-10 years old puts a comedic twist on the traditional kids’ show. When the main attraction doesn’t show up, Pete enlists the kids to help create a show from set to sound, plot to props, and costumes to characters. What could possibly go wrong?
