Description
Zoo Quest: Dress Code turns the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens into a giant after-hours puzzle adventure. Created by the team behind Locked Zoo, this escape-room-style game sends teams across the zoo grounds to crack a series of clues, all centered on how animals use their coats, colors, patterns, and feathers to survive.
The challenge unfolds in three chapters. Teams explore how spots and stripes help animals hide or communicate, meet species that change their looks with the seasons or as they grow, and dig into the clever world of mimicry, where animals survive by looking like something else. Along the way, players pick up fun facts about adaptations and the conservation work protecting these species in the wild.
Gameplay runs through a smartphone, so each team needs at least one fully charged phone with data. Teams of two to six work best, though solo players and larger groups are welcome. Most groups finish in about two hours, and afterward your family can stick around for keeper talks, food trucks, the Conservation Carousel, and a live DJ.
Parents should know that only about half of the zoo is open during the event, and most animals head to their night quarters after 8:00 PM. The puzzles are geared to ages 12 and up, but younger children are welcome to tag along, and strollers are allowed. It is a rain-or-shine event with no re-entry.
