Urban Bush Women's SCAT!... The Complex Lives of Al & Dot, Dot & Al Zollar is an extraordinary dance performance set in a fictional jazz club. Blending powerful storytelling with jazz improvisation, SCAT! tells the love story of two people navigating the Great Migration and the harsh realities of American life in the 1940s and 50s. Conceived and directed by UBW founder Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, this gripping 90-minute show features an original jazz score performed by live musicians. With a poetic mix of truth, memory, myth, and music, SCAT! is a vibrant celebration of resilience, family, and Black cultural legacy. Urban Bush Women, known for challenging expectations, brings this masterpiece to the West Coast for an unforgettable experience.
