Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails Exhibit

All aboard! Visitors to the Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails exhibit will find themselves surrounded by everyone’s favorite blue engine Thomas, his engine friends, and the Island of Sodor’s iconic locations from Mattel’s popular series.

The exhibit combines exciting play opportunities with important concepts in early childhood Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Children help Thomas and his friends solve a variety of challenges, from simple sorting and shape identification activities to more complex engineering obstacles. As children confront new challenges and test their abilities, the smiling faces of Thomas, Percy, Victor, and others are there to offer encouragement and remind children how “really useful” we all are.

In the exhibit, children can:

- Climb into the iconic blue train cab and explore the engine’s inner workings as they whistle and steam

- Dress in a conductor’s uniform and load & sort freight and baggage on to train cars

- Take a photo next to a mural of Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt

- Create routes or spurs with toy trains and track pieces, build bridges, and travel around the entire island at the Island Exploration Table

- Fix Percy’s engine with oversized nuts, bolts, wheels, rods, and wrenches and get him ready to chug at Sodor Steamworks

Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails was created by Minnesota Children’s Museum in partnership with Mattel, Inc. The exhibit is nationally presented by Fisher-Price.
