Description
Phantom Projects brings #TheSocialMediaPlay to the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, May 6, 2027, with an evening public performance at 7 PM. Performed by an all-youth cast, this hard-hitting drama looks at how social media shapes the way young people treat one another, and how quickly online cruelty can spiral into real-world harm.
Drawing on true stories of teens affected by cyberbullying and online harassment, the play shows how impulsive posts, comments and shares can have long-lasting consequences. It doesn't shy away from difficult subjects, including youth suicide, which is why it's recommended for older kids, and a post-show discussion helps audiences process what they've seen.
For parents of tweens and teens, this is a valuable chance to watch together and start an honest conversation about phones, group chats and kindness online. Students get in free at the 7 PM performance, which makes it an especially easy family outing.
Daytime performances at 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM are reserved for school field trips. Free parking is available in the lots around the theatre, and optional Behind-the-Curtain seats offer a backstage tour and a chance to meet the cast before the evening show.
