The Pout-Pout Fish

Little readers who know the Pout-Pout Fish by heart can see their gloomy, lovable hero swim to life when TheaterWorksUSA brings The Pout-Pout Fish to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on April 17 and 18, 2027. Based on the bestselling picture book, this musical stage version fills the Samueli Theater with colorful puppets, live performers and catchy songs.

In this undersea adventure, Mr. Fish sets out to track down Miss Clam's lost pearl. Along the way he meets new friends, finds some courage and learns there is a lot more to him than a famous frown. The story's messages about friendship and self-confidence come wrapped in plenty of silliness, which makes it an easy first theater trip for preschoolers.

TheaterWorksUSA has spent more than five decades creating shows for young audiences, and this one has earned praise for its imaginative visuals. Families can also arrive early for roughly an hour of free hands-on fun in the lobby before each Family Series performance, and the Sunday 1:00 PM show is interpreted in American Sign Language.
