The Hollow Awakens

The Hollow Awakens is an immersive Halloween experience from Imaginarium that has taken over Lakewood Center this fall. Rather than a simple walk-through, guests become part of a story, following a mission map through ten themed zones filled with creatures, monsters, spirits and surprising animatronics, all with the goal of putting The Hollow back to sleep.

Kids stay busy the whole way through. There is a character treasure hunt where families stamp their map with every discovery, a token challenge that sends players searching for ten ball dispensers to win a prize, and an online game that lets guests choose a character and follow clues as they explore. Trick-or-treating is part of the ticket, too, and wandering circus clowns provide free entertainment along the way.

The outdoor area is fully Halloween-themed but not frightening, with a glowing pumpkin patch, mirror rooms, a ball pit, an obstacle course and DIY spaces. Most of the indoor space is designed to be kid-friendly and works best for ages 8 and up, though it is dark and filled with fog, spooky music and sound effects. Two optional zones crank up the fear with live jump-scare actors, so braver tweens and teens can opt in while younger siblings skip them.

Plan on 90 minutes to two hours for a visit. Costumes are encouraged, though full-face masks are not allowed. Strobe lights, fog and loud noises are used, so the experience may not suit children with sensory sensitivities, and it is not advised for pregnant guests or anyone with a heart condition.

All ages are welcome, and children 3 and under are free.

The outdoor area is not scary; the indoor zones are ideal for ages 8 and up, and two optional areas feature intense jump scares.

Not recommended for guests with sensory sensitivities, pregnant guests or those with heart conditions.

One ticket includes all attractions, interactive activities and trick-or-treating.

Tickets are sold at the gate, but the event can sell out, so buying online is recommended. Tickets are non-refundable but can be rescheduled before your date.
