Description
Creative teens get a behind-the-canvas look at visual storytelling during this hands-on workshop at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Led by illustrator and designer Jenny Cho, the session explores how artists build mood, movement and narrative into a single image.
Drawing inspiration from works in the museum's collection by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Edgar Degas, participants will look closely at how color, composition and mark making shape the stories a picture tells. Then it is their turn: working in mixed media, teens will create original artwork that connects classic fine art with today's world of illustration and visual storytelling.
The workshop is designed for high school students and all materials are provided. Class size is capped at 20 participants, so advance registration is a must, and a waitlist opens if the session fills. It is a terrific pick for teens who love to draw, dream of a career in illustration or animation, or simply want a fresh creative outlet.
