Snow Day

Southern California families rarely get to build a snowman without a long mountain drive, which is exactly what makes Snow Day in Riverside such a treat. The City of Riverside Parks, Recreation and Community Services team is hauling in more than 100 tons of real snow and piling it up at Bordwell Park for one frosty Saturday morning in December.

Children can scoop, pack and play in the powder, and families who want a little extra thrill can book a sledding session. Holiday crafts round out the morning for kids who want a break from the cold, and food vendors will be on site so nobody has to head home hungry.

The celebration is presented in collaboration with the Bordwell Advisory and the MLK Club, giving it a warm neighborhood feel. Dress little ones in layers, pack dry socks and gloves, and plan to arrive early so your family can make the most of the three-hour window before the snow starts to melt.
