Silverado Country Fair & Folk Festival

Silverado Canyon turns back the clock to the Old West for the annual Silverado Country Fair & Folk Festival, a beloved small-town tradition held the second weekend of October. Two full days of live music, old-fashioned contests, arts and crafts and 1800s-style entertainment fill the heart of downtown Silverado, and costumes are highly encouraged.

Kids will love the goofy contests, including pie, watermelon and corn eating competitions, plus prizes for the best 1800s western outfit and best beard, and a new hillbilly hippie costume contest. Families can also have a loved one locked up in the Silverado Jailhouse for a souvenir bail receipt, catch the Franklin Puppeteers' marionettes on Sunday, and join a 5-gallon bucket drum circle both days.

Saturday morning opens with the 55th Silverado UnParade at 9:00 AM, a charming procession of horses, buggies, classic cars, go-karts, bicycles and family floats, followed by a live-action Blackstar outlaw wagon robbery shootout outside the Silverado Cafe and Market. The music lineup runs all weekend, with bluegrass, country, rockabilly, brass and rock bands taking the stage into the evening.

Grown-ups can browse fine art, clothing, jewelry and collectibles at the arts and crafts fair, and the food court serves everything from burgers and tacos to homemade pie. It is a wonderfully quirky, community-made fall outing that feels miles away from the city.
