Scarium Family Night

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach trades its usual calm for a playful dose of Halloween mischief during Scarium Family Night. After the regular crowds head home, the galleries fill with costumed kids, glowing tanks and plenty of friendly frights, giving families a chance to celebrate the season surrounded by thousands of ocean animals.

Little ghouls can collect treats as they wander through the exhibits, carrying the goodie bags the Aquarium hands out for the evening. A self-guided spooky scavenger hunt keeps curious explorers busy, while kids' activity booths, themed photo stations and a vampire magician add extra entertainment. When the wiggles kick in, a DJ spins monster-themed mash-ups so the whole crew can hit the dance floor.

Costumes are encouraged, so this is a perfect chance for your family to show off those Halloween outfits a week early. Keep the look family friendly, though: the Aquarium does not allow full-face masks, toy weapons or flashlights. Tickets are sold in advance and the evening tends to be popular, so parents should plan ahead and book early.
