Santa Strolling

Downtown Manhattan Beach gets an extra dose of holiday magic this December when Santa Claus heads out for a series of midday strolls through the seaside shopping district. Rather than waiting in a long line at the mall, families can bump into the jolly gent as he wanders past the boutiques, cafes and twinkling storefronts near the pier.

The free appearances happen on three Saturdays in December, giving kids several chances to wave, say hello and maybe snap a quick photo. It pairs nicely with a little holiday shopping, a treat at one of the downtown bakeries or ice cream shops, or a walk out to the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Because Santa is on the move, there is no set meeting spot, so plan to explore the downtown blocks and follow the excitement. Little ones who are shy about sitting on Santa's lap may find a casual sidewalk meeting much more comfortable.
