Regulate and Recharge: Sensory Play and Community Support

The Arroyo Seco Regional Branch Library in Highland Park hosts a monthly drop-in hour that gives kids room to play, create and decompress. Regulate and Recharge brings out sensory toys and tools from the library's children's area, along with art activities, so little ones can explore at their own pace in a calm, welcoming space.

The play is open-ended, so there is no right or wrong way to join in. Children can squish, build, sort and make art while parents and caregivers relax nearby. The program is designed with all abilities in mind, and it is especially thoughtful for families raising neurodivergent kids.

Grown-ups get something out of it too. Library staff provide resources for parents and caregivers looking for ways to support their neurodivergent children, and the easygoing setting makes it simple to connect with other families who understand the journey.

The program is free, and no registration is listed. Families who need disability-related accommodations can call the library's accessibility line at (213) 228-7430 at least five business days before the event.
