Pretend City Birthday Weekend

It’s time for a party! Color your own party hat that you can wear during Pretend City's parade to help them celebrate their birthday!

Did you know that in Brazil and Jamaica, it’s a common practice to throw flour at the birthday person? Well, in the sensory bin, you can explore flour and scooping materials to prep for a cake or a celebration! Purpose: These activities will encourage children to work independently and as a group, which helps with their social-emotional development. They will develop fine motor skills, learn about cause and effect, and also develop a curiosity about other celebrations.

Story Time (11am & 2:30pm): Birthday’s Around the World  Synopsis: Everyone in the world has a birthday but not every celebrates them in the same ways! Join Pretend City as they take a trip around the world to see how people from other countries and cultures dress, eat and celebrate on their birthday!

Music & Movement (directly following story time): Happy Birthday Pretend City!  In honor of our 13th birthday, gather around Orange Plaza to sing the classic “Happy Birthday” song to Pretend City! Once singing, you will be will be provided chocolate and vanilla cake in honor of the special day!

Birthday Scavenger Hunt (ALL DAY):  hunt around the city to find seven dinosaurs and cross them off your scavenger hunt list!
