Play for All Abilities

The Southern California Children’s Museum is opening its doors—and its heart—with Play for All Abilities, a special program designed specifically for children and families with developmental differences. On the last Thursday of every month, the museum transforms into a welcoming, sensory-considerate space where kids can play, explore, and connect at their own pace.

Expect a quieter, more relaxed environment with dimmed lights, no background music, and no microphones. The museum also offers thoughtful tools like sensory backpacks (complete with noise-canceling headphones and sensory toys), visual guides, and nonverbal communication cards to make the experience as inclusive and enjoyable as possible. It’s not just play—it’s community, comfort, and care. Bonus: sensory backpacks are available every day, so support is always within reach!
