Description
There’s nothing like a cozy fall day and a good book—and the Nikkei Children’s Book Festival brings that spirit to life! Inspired by the Japanese saying dokushyo no aki (“fall is for reading”), this festival celebrates the rich world of children’s literature within the Japanese American community.
Families can look forward to a full day of author storytimes, hands-on activities, interactive Q&As, and a special pop-up bookstore curated by the JANM Store. The lineup of featured guests is nothing short of inspiring—actor George Takei, Olympic medalist siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani, Disney animator Benson Shum, drift racer Nadine Sachiko Hsu, and many more beloved writers and illustrators will be sharing their talents and stories.
With something for kids, parents, and book lovers of all ages, this festival is a celebration of imagination, culture, and connection. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite story or meeting the author behind a beloved book, this event is a must for readers young and old!
