Images and Imagination: Collage Workshop (Bilingual)

Families can make their own artwork at the Getty Center during Images and Imagination, a free drop-in collage workshop presented in English and Spanish. Led by Kalli Arte Collective, a Boyle Heights family of printmakers, the workshop draws inspiration from photography from Mexico and Los Angeles now on view at the museum.

Kids and grown-ups cut, arrange, and combine hand-printed silkscreen images into an original collage, playing with storytelling, composition, and self-expression along the way. All supplies are provided, so your family just needs to bring curiosity and a little imagination.

On the same Sundays, artist Alfonso Aceves of Kalli Arte leads Artist-at-Work: Serigraphy, a bilingual live demonstration of silkscreen printing at the Museum Entrance. Families can watch layered, handmade prints come to life, meet the artist, and ask questions before heading over to create their own collage.

The workshop takes place in the outdoor Peristyle. Getty encourages families to make a day of it by bringing a blanket and a picnic. Family programs are free, but the Getty Center requires a timed-entry reservation, and parking has a fee.

Families are welcome to bring a picnic and a blanket. Folding chairs, glass, metal cutlery, and alcohol are not permitted.

Parking is $25 per car, $15 after 3:00 PM, and $10 after 6:00 PM (cashless; cards accepted).

Complimentary strollers are available first-come, first-served at the T1 level of the parking structure.
