Holiday Family Overnight

Imagine telling your kids they're going to sleep on a real World War II battleship. That's exactly the adventure waiting at the Holiday Family Overnight aboard Battleship IOWA in San Pedro, a special holiday sleepover running from the afternoon of Saturday, December 5 through the morning of Sunday, December 6, 2026.

The evening starts with dinner and dessert served on the ship's historic mess decks, where generations of sailors once ate their meals. Then families head out on a two-hour, behind-the-scenes guided tour that goes beyond a typical museum visit. When it's time to turn in, everyone settles into authentic sailor bunks, known on board as racks, before waking up to breakfast on the ship.

The experience is designed for kids ages 6 and older, and adults must attend with a child. Parents, guardians, grandparents, relatives and family friends are all welcome as chaperones. Each child needs a signed Family Overnight Contract from a legal guardian before boarding.

With space capped at 200 participants, this cozy holiday sleepover is likely to sell out, so families who are interested should book early. It's a memorable, hands-on way to blend history, holiday fun and a once-in-a-lifetime night away from home.

Open to children ages 6 and up.

Paid parking is available in the adjacent LA World Cruise Terminal public lot, shared with the museum.

The first hour is free, then $3 per hour, up to $23 per day. Limited street parking may also be available.
