Hands on History: Basket Weaving Workshop

History gets hands-on at the Santa Monica History Museum's Hands on History series, and this month's workshop is all about basket weaving. Carolyne Edwards of the Quinn Research Center leads the session, sharing the Indigenous traditions behind this centuries-old craft.

After learning where the techniques come from, kids get to try weaving a basket themselves. It is a calm, creative way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and little ones go home with something they made with their own hands.

The workshop is best for ages 8 and up. Drop-ins are welcome, but the museum asks families to RSVP so they can plan supplies.
