Día de los Muertos at Olvera Street

Historic Olvera Street celebrates Día de los Muertos with a nine-day festival from October 25 through November 2, 2026. The historic heart of Los Angeles fills with community ofrendas (altars) honoring loved ones.

Each evening, a procession with Aztec dancers and costumed Living Muertos winds through El Pueblo. Teatro del Barrio presents La Danza de la Muerte at 6 pm, and families can enjoy daytime entertainment on select dates, children's activities and face painting.

Admission is free, and guests are offered free sweet bread and beverages. It is a meaningful, family-friendly way for kids to learn about the tradition while enjoying the music, color and food of Olvera Street.
