Description
Get ready to look up and be inspired! The Community & Unity People’s Kite Festival returns to Los Angeles State Historic Park for an afternoon of sky-high fun and community celebration. This year marks the festival’s fifth anniversary, with the powerful theme "Entangled in Community"—honoring the diverse neighborhoods that helped protect and shape this vibrant public space near historic Chinatown.
Expect a colorful mix of kite-flying, art-making workshops, live music, food vendors, and a whole lot of joy. Special highlights include unique sculptural kite designs by artist Maria Maea, live festival painting by artist Sterling Wells, and the always-popular handmade kite competition judged by seasoned kite masters. Families can bring their own kites, grab eco-friendly ones in advance, or build one onsite at the Kite-Making Station (while supplies last). Come celebrate resilience, culture, and unity with a festival that’s as meaningful as it is magical.
