Canoga Park Día de los Muertos Festival

Now in its 26th year, the Canoga Park Día de los Muertos Festival turns a stretch of Sherman Way into a joyful, community-wide celebration of life and memory. Organized by Main Street Canoga Park, the free street festival blends Mexican tradition with only-in-LA touches like a classic car show, making it a fun and meaningful outing for families of all backgrounds.

Kids and parents can wander past community ofrendas (altars) built in memory of loved ones, watch folklorico dancers and live bands play everything from Latin jazz to rock en español, and catch the always-popular La Catrina costume contest around midday on the Main Stage. Hands-on art-making stations and face painting keep younger children entertained, while vendor booths sell handmade crafts and Día de los Muertos keepsakes.

This year's festival carries the theme "Healing Through Memory; Remembrance as Medicine," reflecting the holiday's roots in celebrating those who have passed rather than mourning them. The event is alcohol-free and designed with families in mind, and food trucks are on hand for anyone who works up an appetite while exploring.
