An Afternoon with Authors: In Conversation with Courtney B. Vance

Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance takes the stage for an insightful conversation about his latest book, The Invisible Ache: Black Men Identifying Their Pain and Reclaiming Their Power. Hosted by William Allen Young, this event explores Vance’s personal and professional journey, from his celebrated roles in Lovecraft Country, The People vs. O.J. Simpson, and The Preacher’s Wife, to his mission of raising awareness about mental health and emotional resilience.

The event kicks off with a special pre-program musical performance by cellist Adrienne Woods at 2 p.m. in the Children’s Courtyard, leading into the main discussion inside the Mark Taper Auditorium. Presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library, Leimert Park Village Book Fair, and Our Author Study Club, this literary gathering offers a rare opportunity to hear Vance’s thoughts on storytelling, advocacy, and personal growth.
