A Year With Frog and Toad

Arnold Lobel's gentle, funny Frog and Toad stories have been bedtime favorites for generations, and this winter the Phantom Projects Theatre at La Habra Depot brings them to life in a toe-tapping musical. A Year With Frog and Toad runs from February 19 through March 7, 2027, with Friday evening and weekend performances.

The show follows the two best friends from the moment they wake up from hibernation in spring through a full year of adventures. Audiences watch Frog and Toad plant a garden, go swimming, rake leaves and race down snowy hills on a sled, learning a few life lessons along the way. Blending musical theatre with a playful, vaudeville-style spirit, the production celebrates the differences that make each friend unique.

This lighthearted musical is a wonderful first theatre experience for preschoolers and young readers who already know the books, and it still offers plenty of charm for older siblings and grown-ups. A sensory-friendly performance on Sunday, February 21 at 11 AM provides a more relaxed environment for kids who benefit from it.

The show runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes plus a 15-minute intermission, making it a manageable outing for younger children. The theatre is part of the Family Series, and booster seats are available near the entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.
