A Holiday Wonderland Special at Bob Baker Marionette Theater

The Bob Baker Marionette Theater's holiday tradition is back in Highland Park with A Holiday Wonderland Special, an hour-long marionette show built like an old-school TV holiday special. The twinkly host is Demitrius Nova Twinklestar III, a floating star puppet better known as Demi Star.

Demi Star welcomes a parade of fan favorites, including Pink Cat and a line of high-kicking Rockette Reindeers, as the puppets deck the halls, sing a few carols and welcome winter. Expect surprise cameos, big musical numbers and a few sweet, tender moments.

Little ones can sit criss-cross-applesauce on floor cushions right by the stage, where the marionettes often stop by for a nose wiggle or a lap visit. Grown-ups can choose theater chairs instead, and every show ends with ice cream and a chance to meet the puppets.

Seats go fast. As of early November, most November and early December weekend shows are sold out, while weekday winter-break performances in mid-December and early January still have openings.

Sundays: 10:30 am and 1:30 pm, plus 4:30 pm on select Sundays

Winter break: daytime and 7:30 pm weekday shows Dec. 15–18, Dec. 22–24, Dec. 29–31 and Jan. 5–8

Sensory-friendly performance: Saturday, December 19, 10:30 am (tickets sold separately)

Select Friday, Saturday and Tuesday evening shows at 7:30 pm

Each show runs about one hour.

All ages are welcome. Children 2 and under who sit on a lap are free and do not need a ticket. Guests under 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.

This is a paid event.

Tickets are $28 per person, fees included.

Choose floor cushions, theater chairs, or Puppet Parlor seats (not recommended for young children because of the railing).

Tickets are non-refundable, but the theater offers a credit toward another show if you contact them before the day of your performance.

🚙 Parking

Metered street parking is available on York Boulevard. Two public parking lots are a short walk away: one on Avenue 51 between York Boulevard and Meridian Street, and another at 5033 Lincoln Avenue. Metro Bus Line 83 and the DASH Highland Park/Eagle Rock route also stop nearby.
