Description
The Culver City Arts Festival returns for its eighth year, closing part of Washington Boulevard in the Culver City Arts District for a free, all-day celebration of art, music and community. Presented by the Culver City Arts District and the Arts District Residents Association, the festival invites families to stroll the street, pop into neighborhood galleries showing special installations and browse a marketplace packed with artists and artisan vendors.
Music runs nonstop from 11:00 AM on three stages named for nearby streets: Hutchinson, Sherbourne and McManus. The lineup mixes jazz, rock, brass band and Latin sounds, plus crowd-pleasers like a School of Rock set, a yoga session and a free salsa lesson. Keep an eye out for a roaming dance performance by Heidi Duckler Dance and for muralists painting live throughout the festival grounds, a fun way for kids to watch big artwork come to life.
Kids' activities, an International Arts Zone, food trucks and beer gardens round out the day, so there is something for every member of the family. Parking is very limited, so the organizers encourage visitors to arrive by Metro, bus, bike or rideshare, and a free bike valet makes pedaling over especially easy.
