5th Annual Holidays In The Village, A European Marketplace

Holidays in the Village brings the charm of an old-world Christmas market to the Conejo Valley for one festive December weekend. Organized entirely by volunteers with the Rotary Club of Westlake Village, the free event sets up at The Oaks in Thousand Oaks, with proceeds supporting local charities.

About 60 artisan vendors line the marketplace with handcrafted gifts, while bakers and chocolatiers tempt shoppers with sweet treats. Over in the Festive Garden, families can settle in with live seasonal entertainment and European-style fare, and kids can warm up with homemade hot cocoa or Kinderpunsch, a spiced, alcohol-free holiday punch.

Children tend to make a beeline for Kris Kringle's Village, where they can pose for photos with Kris Kringle or the Grinch, ride the Village Train and take a spin on a classic ferris wheel. Face painting, an Art Trek craft station and a Village Bear scavenger hunt add even more to explore, and the market looks especially magical once the sun goes down and the holiday lights switch on.

Parents should know that beer, wine and mulled wine are sold to guests 21 and older with ID and a wristband, and organizers ask that young children stay with an adult at all times. The marketplace is wheelchair accessible, with ADA-accessible restrooms.
