Description

The Historical Society of Long Beach presents its 30th Annual Historical Cemetery Tour on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Long Beach Municipal and Sunnyside cemeteries. This living-history event is educational rather than spooky, making it a unique Halloween outing for curious kids and history-loving families.

Community theater performers in period costume portray real Long Beach residents, sharing their life stories in 10-minute graveside scenes that repeat every 20 minutes. The self-guided tour also includes Japanese American history presentations, Día de los Muertos installations, historian talks, local author book signings and historical displays.

Families should plan about three hours to see everything and arrive before noon to catch the full lineup. The ground is uneven, so comfortable shoes are a must, and strollers may be tricky in some areas.
