You and your children have enough space to slide to your heart's content. The official sledding spot is near the Venice Pier and stretches along the south parking lot. It is usually the largest of its kind, perfect for anyone looking for a thrilling ride. December to January is the ideal time to visit as the sand is packed and provides a smoother, faster ride. There are three paid parking lots open from 6 am to 10 pm, or you can look for a metered spot on Washington Blvd. Parking in the lot might be more expensive on the weekends. Zuma Beach Sand Sledding 30000 Pacific Coast Highway Malibu, CA 90265 For a fun and exciting day out in the sun, nothing beats sand sledding at Zuma Beach! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced sand sledder, Zuma Beach has something for everyone. The sand berms at Zuma are long and less crowded than Venice and Hermosa, which also means they are not as slick. For a better experience, the adults should take a few trips down the slope to create an excellent pathway for the children to enjoy. The beach break at Zuma Beach is great for a more challenging slide. It’s a little closer to the water, so you’ll want to be careful of the waves. The slope ends very close to the highway, so it is not recommended for younger kids, but the ride is slow and will spare you a trip back to your car. This is one of the few spots in L.A. where you can sand sled year-round. Dockweiler State Beach 12000 Vista Del Mar, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293 The beach is expansive with lots of sand, so it is the perfect spot for a less crowded sand sledding experience. Dockweiler State Beach has 3.7 miles of ocean frontage and 288 acres of beach. The only drawback here is its proximity to Los Angeles International Airport; the noise can get quite loud for some. The nearby parking lots have over 1,200 spaces and are open Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 8:30 pm, while Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays hours are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hermosa Beach Sand Sledding Hermosa Avenue & 33rd Street Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 Hermosa Beach is ideal for sledding for families with young children, as the dunes are gentler and less abrupt. Climbing up and sledding down the sand berms near the Hermosa Pier offers plenty of space to have fun. The sand hills are not as steep, making them suitable for timid sledders. The closest parking is at the two metered lots on Hermosa Avenue, at 11th and 13th Streets. Manhattan Beach Sand Dune Park Bell Ave. & 33rd St., Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. The Manhattan Beach Sand Dune Park is a hidden gem located in the heart of Southern California. This unique park offers an array of activities for visitors, including sand sledding, a thrilling and memorable experience. The dunes have been around for centuries, and the area remains relatively untouched. With its undulating hills, rich wildlife, and beautiful views, the park is one of the few places in the area where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sand sledding is the perfect way to explore the dunes and an adventure that the whole family can enjoy. This three-acre park includes a fenced small children's play area with swings, a merry-go-round, and climbing equipment. The park has shaded picnic facilities for about 20 people each, an open pavilion, and two picnic tables. The park is open from 8 am to 7 pm. Reservation is needed for this park. Oceano Dunes 200 Pier Ave, Oceano, CA 93445 The coastal dunes are some of the most extensive in Southern California. They are surrounded by the town of Oceano on one side and the actual ocean on the other. Sand Sledding is allowed on the dunes; many families with kids bring their sleds and have fun sliding downhill. The sand is super-fine and soft, and it’s a picturesque place to wander around since there isn’t anyone here. There are many hills to sled through, and you’ll need to find a path with less plant foliage. Squad Harmonix was created in 2019 by Laura Saggers and is led by an energetic staff of professional musicians in Los Angeles. They offer online and in-person options for students to choose from. The main focus is teaching contemporary vocal performance and music education, with the reward of professionally-produced music videos/albums and captivating live performances. These include a Box Music Video/Album Package, Online Recording Class, private beatboxing lessons, and online Music Ed (music theory and sight-reading). Music Ed consists of materials such as scales, rhythm, symbols, sight-reading, etc., and meets weekly online via Zoom. In-Person classes meet every Saturday at a park in Santa Monica. Here, the students are split up into their vocal sections, to learn harmonies, blending, choreography and audition for solos in preparation for the end-of-semester showcase. • 5 Best Family Friendly Happy Hours in Los Angeles!

Family-friendly happy hour may seem like an oxymoron, but finding a sitter for an hour of downtime is sure to cost more than the money you save! Check out 5 of my favorite Family Friendly Happy Hour spots in Los Angeles where you’re promised relaxation and libations. Drago Centro (DTLA) Drago Centro in Downtown Los Angeles offers a Daily Happy Hour in their lounge area from 11:30 AM-10:00 PM Monday-Friday, and 5:00 PM-10:30 PM on weekends. Enjoy Wine specials for $8 and Specialty Cocktails like their White Negroni crafted with Bookers gin, bordiga vermouth, and amara for $9. The food menu is expansive with Saga Wagyu Mini Burgers for $9 and Pizzetta con Burrata for $8 making the top of my list for their simplicity for little fingers. The indoor/outdoor lounge area makes it a great place to bring the kids, as the adults on their own stick with the bar. The Pot Lobby Bar (Koreatown) Masterminds Roy Choi and Matt Biancanielloto have designed a bar menu at The Pot Lobby Bar at The Line Hotel with Small Bites and Drinks that all cost less than the $10 valet. Pair an Old Fashioned on Tap ($8) with some Korean Spicy Chicken Wings ($6) for a third of the price you would pay at Pot. Happy hour runs from 2:30 to 8:00 pm daily. Why is this great for kids? The expansive lobby area with an abundance of oversized chairs makes it easy to handle your kids. And being a hotel, patrons are more understanding that you have your kiddos with you. Kettleblack (Silverlake) Kettleblack in Silverlake offers their Happy Hour from 5 pm to 7 pm daily, and any fans of "the Manhattan" will be pleased to see it on the menu ($8). More traditional Italian beverages like Peroni ($4) and Negroni ($8) are also available. As far as food goes, I dare you not to order the Wood Fired Cauliflower bagna cauda, with golden raisins, capers & pine nuts ($8). In a hurry? A Sip & Slice of cheese pizza with a choice of Peroni or House red, white, or rosé ($8) is worth finding the time for! Now on to the kids! The gorgeous indoor/outdoor space makes it a relaxed dining experience for everyone. And management is more than happy to help seat you outside in the front, or a nice corner booth along the wall. Bourbon Steak (Glendale) Happy Hour at Bourbon Steak at the Americana Mall runs daily here from 4:30 pm to 7 pm (and 3 pm on Sundays). The rarely used outdoor patio facing Brand Blvd is the perfect place to corral the kiddos and offers them an endless amount of car and people watching. Snacks on the lounge menu are all half off including Duck Spring Rolls with ginger-chili dipping sauce ($8) and Australian Lamb Lollipops with Chimichurri ($9). Butcher Cuts and Burgers are also specially priced at $22 and $14 respectively. So what are you drinking? Enjoy 10 specialty cocktails for $7, Sommelier’s Select Juice (red, white, or bubbly) for $6, and their Daily Brew for $4. Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern (Santa Monica) Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern, or JFAT, is a great option for family friendly happy hour because of its HUGE booths and indoor/outdoor flex space facing Ocean Avenue. Happy Hour takes place Sunday through Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm, during which you can order the always decadent JFAT Nachos with Sirloin Chili, Guacamole, and more for $8, Parmesan Garlic Fries for $5, and possibly the best Charred Brussel Sprouts in the city for $7. Beers and Cocktails are $2, “Tap Wines” are $3, but my go-to has got to be ‘Sofia’s Skinny Partida’ Margarita crafted with Partida Blanco, Agave Nectar, muddled Citrus Cucumber and Mint $7. After all, you have to keep something skinny when you’re chowing down on nachos and fries (lol). #HappyHours #Food #Restaurants #BestofLA

  • A Day With Kids At The Original Farmers Market!

I was invited to The Original Farmers Market to explore the market and learn about its history. I had been to the Market so many times before, and even though I always felt the uniqueness of the Original Farmers Market, I didn't know much about the history behind it. While taking a full tour of the market, visiting every single eatery and shop, and learning about its history, I was completely intrigued. Let me start by telling you about the fascinating history of The Original Farmers Market. The History: In 1880, Arthur Gilmore acquired the property and operated it as a Dairy Farm. Some years later he discovered oil on the property, and he developed The Gilmore Oil Company on the property. In 1934, the property was used for a stadium that had car races, boxing matches, rodeos, and entertainment. In the same year, a couple of entrepreneurs approached the Gilmore family and suggested using the land as a combination of village and farmer's market. In July 1934, farmers came to the corner of Fairfax and 3rd Street and sold their produce right out of the back of their trucks. Almost immediately, the concept was so popular that farmers and other merchants were asking for permanent stalls, and began to build them over the course of that summer, which became the Farmers Market as we know it now. Restaurants: The very first Restaurant, "Magee's Kitchen", arrived at Farmer's Market in 1934 and after almost 85 years, folks still line up for outstanding roast and corned beef, delicious turkey, and ham platters. Another example of a historical restaurant at the market is "Patsy D'Amore's Pizza", which bakes their pizza in the original brick oven brought from Catalina Island almost 80 years ago. They also serve outstanding lasagna and spaghetti. There are approximately 40 restaurants, eateries, coffee shops, candy shops, bakeries, and butcheries at the Original Farmers Market with variety of delicious and authentic food and products, which makes it a perfect venue for families. Everyone can just choose whatever they like from one of the eateries and join each other at a table in the Courtyard of the farmer's market under the sunny sky of our beautiful city, Los Angeles. Among other popular restaurants are "Bryan’s Pit Barbecue" with excellent Texas-style beef, pork, and chicken dishes; "Du-par’s Restaurant" with comfort food dishes that will take you back to your childhood; "Pampas Grill" which is a churrascaría, and is my personal favorite. At Pampas Grill, you get to select from beef steak, sausages, chicken, and other dishes and pay by the weight of the food on your plate. Some of the restaurants with separate dining areas are ideal for a date night, as they serve beer and wine, and you can even watch your favorite sport as you eat and spend quality time with your spouse. I also have to mention "The French Crepe Company", which is another favorite of mine, serving light and luscious crepes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, including magnificent sandwiches. A new addition to the Farmers Market, Pasta Corner, is from the team at Michelina Artisan Boulangerie and is a must-try. After you are done with your food, we suggest visiting one of the ice cream shops or bakeries to satisfy your sweet tooth. "Local Ice" serves delicious cold treats on the Market's West Patio. Their creamy ice cream and dairy-free Italian ices are hand-crafted on-site using organic ingredients. Another ice cream shop is "Bennett's Ice Cream", which has been at the market since 1963. They make their own ice cream from fresh ingredients mixed on the spot. If you want to try something new and different, head over to "Zia Valentina", and try a delicious Sicilian ice drink. Their menu also features breakfasts, snacks, great packaged items like biscotti, muffins, cookies, apple butter, and pesto. Things To Do: Other than satisfying your appetite, there is so much to do at the market. You can shop at various specialty food shops such as "Dragunara Spice Bazaar", which features the freshest spices, sauces, blended seasonings, and more. Or visit "Light My Fire", which stores hundreds, maybe thousands, of hot sauces from around the world. I guarantee you will be amazed by the selection of hot sauces you can find at this store. Don't forget to stop by "Magee’s House of Nuts" to taste and buy varieties of peanuts in charming gift boxes. I also highly recommend stopping by "Magic Nut and Candy Company" and getting the kids some mixed nuts and candies. They offer so many wonderful varieties of candies and flavored popcorn, that it’s difficult to keep track of. You can also find sugar-free sweets here. Don't be surprised if I tell you that you can even find a dog bakery at The Original Farmers Market. You can treat your dog to fresh, fun, and healthy bakery goods at "The Dog Bakery". At the market, you can find everything you need for making a perfect lunch or dinner as well. Your kids would love to select fresh fruit and veggies at the two grocery stores and shop for fresh fish, poultry, turkey, and meat at the seafood and butcher shops. Then stop by "Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market" with thousands of imported specialty foods, olive oils, spices, sauces, and best chocolate collections, and do the rest of your shopping for making a great meal at home. Another must-visit with kids is the "Kip's Toyland". This toy store is the oldest toy store in Los Angeles and family-owned for more than 70 years. You can find lots of fun toys, games, dolls, puzzles, costumes stuffed animals and much more here. My 7-year-old loved browsing around the "Sticker Planet", which is located in the middle of the market. We were amazed by thousands of unique stickers, perfect for project making at this store. When you walk outside the Courtyard, you will find a Newsstand with variety of magazines and newspapers, which offers postal services too. Basically, you can dine, shop, have fun, and even do some of your chores at the Original Farmers Market. It really doesn't get better than this! For the full list of all the amazing merchants at the Farmer's Market, click here. I should also mention that you may bump into a celebrity at the market on any given day. Among the celebrities spotted at the market are Jimmy Kimmel, Alton Brown, Guy Fieri, Susan Sarandon, Anthony Hopkins, and more. Events: The Original Farmer's Market features several seasonal events throughout the year, such as Lunar New Year Celebration, Mardi Gras Celebration, Dance Parties, Pet Parade and Costume Contest, St. Patrick Day Celebration, Hanukkah Party and Lighting, Christmas Festivities, and many many more. For a calendar of events please click here. Location & Hours: The Original Farmers Market is located at 6333 W.3rd St.Los Angeles, CA 90036, at the corner of Fairfax and 3rd Street. The Market is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Saturdays from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Sundays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Parking: 90 minutes free parking is offered at two parking lots with validation if you purchase at the Farmers Market, or 2 hours free parking with validation from select grocers. To learn more about The Original Farmers Market, please visit their official website. Disclaimer: I was invited to the Original Farmers Market as a guest for review purposes. All opinions are my own. • The Best Kept Secret in Baseball is Out!

Last week, we were invited to the Dodger's Stadium by Smart & Final. You may wonder what Smart & Final has to do anything with baseball. Well, the secret is out! Smart & Final has partnered up with Dodger's Stadium and wants you to know that you can bring your own food and snack to the Stadium! When I heard this news, I thought to myself, what a great idea for families with kids. We were so excited to be taking our kid to his first ballgame! We packed him up, and headed over to Smart and Final for all the things we needed. He was having such a blast going up and down the aisles picking out his favorite snacks for the Dodger's game. We picked up Takis, Pringles, Doritos, Pop Tarts and bottled water at first, and then of course we couldn't leave without peanuts, and Cracker Jacks. The best part about bringing everything to the game - aside from the obvious savings - was having everything we needed there at our seats. When my kid wanted chips, we had chips. When he wanted cookies, we had cookies. I was the supper parent! And I didn't have to get up hundred times to get what my kid wanted, and for once I could relax and watch my favorite game with my kiddo. The point is you can have a great time out, not break the bank, and have the snacks and food you and your child like right there with you. And for families with dietary restrictions, they'll find this comforting as well. That they can have a night out without having to worry about what is available for them at the Stadium. To promote their selection of delicious and easy game day essentials, Smart & Final created their own game day check-list for you! Leave us comments and let us know what are your game day essentials! For more information about what you can and can't take to the Stadium, click here. Next time, you want to have an extra special fun with your kids, we highly recommend packing your food bag at Smart & Final and heading to the Dodger's Stadium, knowing you can relax watching your favorite game with your family without getting up hundred times to get what your kids need and want. We also recommend staying till the end of the game to watch the fireworks! To find your nearest Smart & Final, click here. Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review, but Smart & Final provided us with tickets to the game, a gift card to shop at Smart & Final, and vouchers to shop at the Dodger Stadium's store. All opinions are my own. @smartfinal #smartfinal #Dodgers #Baseball
