Drawing Characters, Age 7-12

Description

Students will develop and design three characters, based on their background stories, and use shape, exaggeration, and color schemes to emphasize characters’ traits. The lesson plan and schedule for the course are as follows: Lesson 1. What is a character? Change the way you see the world! Characters are all around us - in the trees, flowers, clouds, coffee stains, even in your kitchen :) Students will draw characters from inspired objects with charcoal and use different types of pencils and erasers to sketch. Lesson 2. How to start drawing and line of action Blindfold challenge- draw with one marker without lifting your hand, discover the images between the lines and color them. Students will learn to draw a full figure skeleton with basic proportions. Line of action- sketch stick figures in different poses with a timer. Lesson 3. Shapes and proportions Draw characters from numbers and learn how to use curves. Students will draw the human body with shapes. Lesson 4. Redesign characters Students will use an existing character from a TV show or a movie to understand the connection between the story and the design of the character. Then, they will design their own character using the same story. Lesson 5. Prompt & dynamic spacing - Inspired by a theme to create a character with paper shapes. Lesson 6. Rule of Three breakdown Choose three (3) segments in the characters' appearances to emphasize their final look. Lesson 7. Final character part 1 Lesson 8. Final character part 2 Cancellation Policy No Refund; Only credit will be provided, which is valid for one year after any booking was made.
